Complete Field Coverage
Most vCard editors let you change a name and a phone number. Univik VCF Editor gives you a clean form for every field in the vCard standard, the ones you use daily and the ones you only need once a year.
Key Features
Edit, fix, clean and save. Every feature in this vCard editor software is built around the actual job: getting your contact file into the state you need it, quickly and without data loss.
Full Field Edit Form
Click Edit on any contact and get a comprehensive form with a clearly labelled section for every vCard field. Name, phones, emails, addresses, job details, birthday, photo, IM handles, notes. Not just the common fields. All of them. Each phone and email entry has its own type selector so Cell, Home, Work and Fax all stay labelled correctly in the output.
Locate Any Contact to Edit Instantly
Type a name, email address or company name and the contact list filters as you type. The contact you need to edit appears in under two keystrokes even across a 10,000-entry file. Each card shows the avatar, name and key detail so you can confirm it is the right contact before clicking Edit. The search is a navigation tool for getting into the edit form faster.
Contact Photo Editing
Open the Edit form, click the photo area and load any JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP file. The editor auto-resizes the image to 400x400 pixels and encodes it correctly for the vCard version you choose to output. Remove a photo entirely with one click. The correct Base64 or inline encoding is handled automatically so the photo appears correctly in every contacts app the file goes into.
RFC-Compliant Output Every Time
Univik VCF Editor writes fully compliant output for vCard 2.1, 3.0 (RFC 2426) and 4.0 (RFC 6350). Line folding at 75 octets, byte-aware for Unicode characters. Correct escaping of semicolons, commas, backslashes and newlines in all field values. Proper Quoted-Printable encoding for legacy 2.1 output. The resulting file is accepted by iCloud, Google Contacts, Outlook, Android and every other standards-compliant import tool.
Non-Destructive: Nothing Gets Lost
Any field not exposed in the editor form is preserved verbatim in the file on every save. Custom X- properties, Apple-specific social profile tags, WhatsApp group identifiers, iCloud item-prefixed properties (item1.EMAIL format), SOUND, LOGO, PRODID and UID all survive unchanged through an edit-and-save cycle. Your contacts come out exactly as rich as they went in.
Built-In Duplicate Detection
Run Find Duplicates and the editor colour-codes every duplicate group across your entire contact list. Duplicates matched by phone number, email address, full name or UID are highlighted before you export. The richest contact in each group is elected as the base, and you can review the groups before deciding what to keep. A useful cleanup step before exporting your edited VCF to a phone or CRM.
Save as vCard 2.1, 3.0 or 4.0
The output vCard version is your choice and is independent of the input. Load a vCard 2.1 file, edit it, save it as vCard 4.0 for a modern app. Or load a 4.0 file and save as 2.1 for a legacy device. Two save modes are available: all contacts in one combined VCF file, or one individual VCF file per contact in a folder you choose. Both are RFC-compliant for the selected version.
Fast Even on Large Files
Memory-mapped file indexing loads VCF files of any size without pulling the entire file into RAM. A 100,000-contact file opens in seconds. Recent files and recent folders appear in the menu for one-click re-open. The search and sort operations run on the indexed data and respond instantly regardless of file size.
20-Language Interface
The full application interface runs in 20 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Turkish, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian. Switch at any time from the toolbar without restarting. Contact data in any character set is handled correctly regardless of interface language.
Simple Process
No configuration, no conversion steps, no cloud sign-in. Load your VCF file, select the contact, click Edit, make your changes, save. That is the complete workflow to edit VCF contacts on Windows.
Load Your VCF File
Click Open File or drag any VCF file directly onto the window. Single files, multiple files at once or an entire folder are all supported. Contacts load in seconds. Each contact shows its name, photo and stored fields so you can confirm you have the right file before making any changes.
Select the Contact to Edit
Type any part of a name, email or company name to filter the list instantly. Click any contact to open its full detail panel on the right. Review every stored field before committing to an edit. When you have the right contact, click the Edit button to open the edit form.
Edit Any Field
Click Edit. The full edit form opens with every field populated exactly as stored in the VCF. Change anything: fix the name, add a second phone, update the address, swap the photo, correct the company. Add or remove individual entries from multi-value fields.
Save as a Clean VCF
Choose vCard 4.0, 3.0 or 2.1 output. Save all contacts to one combined VCF file or as individual files, one per contact. The output is RFC-compliant and immediately importable into any contacts app, phone or CRM.
Supported Sources
If the file ends in .vcf, this VCF file editor supports it. iCloud exports, Google Contacts backups, Samsung and Android exports, Outlook VCF files, all parsed correctly including version-specific quirks.

A VCF file is rarely perfect. Phone numbers change, companies get renamed, photos go missing and fields get scrambled in exports. These are the real situations where you need to edit vCard files properly, not just view them.
Fix Wrong or Outdated Contact Data
A client changed their mobile number. A colleague moved companies. A supplier's address is three years out of date. Load the VCF file into Univik VCF Editor, find the contact, click Edit and correct the field. Save back as a standards-compliant VCF.
Add or Replace Contact Photos
Your exported contacts have no photos, or the photos from an old phone are low-resolution and distorted. Load the VCF, click Edit on each contact, attach the correct photo. The editor handles resizing and encoding automatically so the photo displays correctly on any device.
Clean Up a VCF Before CRM Import
Your VCF export from a legacy system has garbled company names, missing job titles and inconsistent phone formats. Correct the fields before importing rather than cleaning up after the fact inside the CRM. Find duplicates, fix the data and export a clean file ready to import.
Add Missing Fields Before a Phone Transfer
Moving to a new phone and your exported contacts are missing email addresses, second phone numbers or company names that you know you have in other records. Edit the VCF directly to add the missing data before importing, rather than editing hundreds of contacts one by one on the new device.
Update a Shared Company Address Book
The office contact directory is a VCF file shared across the team. When a staff member leaves or a supplier changes their number, one person edits the VCF file in Univik VCF Editor and redistributes the updated file. No CRM required. No cloud account. A simple, controlled workflow.
Prepare Contacts for a Privacy Audit
GDPR and similar regulations require accurate, complete personal contact records. Missing fields, duplicate records and outdated details all create compliance risk. Univik VCF Editor lets you review, correct and clean your contact VCF files to produce accurate, auditable data before a regulatory review.
Why Univik
When you need to edit a VCF file or edit VCF contacts on Windows, you have three options: a text editor, an online tool or dedicated vCard editor software. Here is what each actually delivers.
Customer Reviews
Real feedback from people who needed to edit VCF contact files and found Univik when Notepad was not going to cut it.
I had 800 business contacts exported from an old CRM. About 200 of them had the first and last name in the wrong fields, and none had photos. I edited them in batches over a weekend using Univik VCF Editor. The field form is exactly what I needed, clean, labeled sections for everything. The photos loaded and resized without any fuss. Saved to vCard 4.0 and imported into Google Contacts without a single error.
Our team maintains a shared VCF contact directory. When staff join or leave, or suppliers update their numbers, someone has to edit the file. Before Univik, that meant carefully editing the raw text and hoping nothing broke. Now it takes two minutes, the output is correct every time and the file works on every device we use. Well worth the price.
I tried three online VCF editors. All three stripped the custom fields my iCloud export contained, which made the contacts unrecognisable on reimport. Univik VCF Editor preserved every single field, including the iCloud-specific ones I didn't even know were there. The fact that it runs offline and never uploads anything was the deciding factor for me anyway.

Common questions about editing vCard VCF contact files with Univik.
Univik VCF Editor opens any VCF contact file on Windows and lets you edit every field on every contact through a clean, form-based interface. Click Edit on any contact and update the name, phone numbers, email addresses, postal address, company, job title, birthday, photo, IM handles, notes and more. When done, save back as a fully RFC-compliant VCF file in vCard 4.0, 3.0 or 2.1 format. All processing runs locally, no upload, no cloud account, no internet connection needed. If you only need to view contacts without making changes, the free Univik vCard File Viewer is a better fit.
The edit form covers: Display Name, First / Middle / Last Name, Nickname, Gender, Company, Job Title, Department, Manager, Assistant, all Phone numbers (each with a type selector: Cell, Home, Work, Fax, Other), all Email addresses (each with type: Home, Work, Other), Postal Address (Street, City, Region, ZIP, Country with type), Website URLs, Instant Messaging handles (Skype, XMPP, AIM, MSN, SIP and others), Birthday, Anniversary, Spouse, Categories, Notes and the Contact Photo. Any field not in the form is preserved unchanged in the file.
No. Univik VCF Editor writes fully RFC-compliant output including correct line folding at 75 octets, proper escaping of special characters, and correct photo encoding for the chosen vCard version. Any field not shown in the editor UI, custom X- properties, iCloud item-prefixed fields, social profiles, SOUND or LOGO, is preserved verbatim. The output is accepted by iCloud, Google Contacts, Outlook, Android and all other standards-compliant contacts apps.
Yes. Univik VCF Editor reads VCF files from all major sources including iCloud (including group-prefixed properties in item1.EMAIL format), Google Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, Android (Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi), WhatsApp and Skype. It handles vCard 2.1 Quoted-Printable encoding used by older Android devices, and all encoding variants used across vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0 files. If the file is a valid VCF, this editor can read and edit it.
Open the contact in the Edit form and click the photo area. Browse to a JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP file. The editor automatically resizes the image to 400x400 pixels and encodes it correctly for the output vCard version you have selected. To remove an existing photo, click the remove option in the photo section. No external image editing is needed, the resizing, format conversion and Base64 encoding are all handled automatically.
Yes. Each contact can have as many phone numbers and email addresses as needed. Each phone entry has its own type selector (Cell, Home, Work, Fax, Other) and each email has a type label (Home, Work, Other). Add new entries with the Add button, remove any entry individually, and reorder them. All entries are saved correctly to the VCF file with their type labels intact.
Yes. Univik VCF Editor includes a built-in Find Duplicates scan. Run it and all contacts matched as duplicates by phone number, email address, full name or UID are colour-coded in the contact list so you can see every duplicate group at a glance. The richest contact in each group is marked as the one to keep. Review the groups before saving. This is a useful cleanup step before exporting an edited VCF to a phone or CRM.
Univik VCF Editor reads vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0 files. On save, you choose the output version: vCard 4.0 (RFC 6350), vCard 3.0 (RFC 2426, recommended for maximum compatibility) or vCard 2.1 (original specification, for legacy devices). The output version is independent of the input, so you can load a vCard 2.1 file and save it as vCard 4.0 to modernise it for a new app.
OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). Framework: .NET Framework 4.8 or higher, included with Windows 10 and 11. Architecture: 64-bit. Disk: 16 MB. No internet connection required after installation. Available via the Microsoft Store and as a direct installer download.
The free trial lets you load VCF files, access contacts, search, sort, and edit a limited number of contacts per session. All edit fields are available including photo editing and all output vCard versions. The duplicate detection scan is also available in the trial. This lets you fully evaluate the software before purchasing. The personal license at $39 removes the per-session contact limit for a single PC. The business license at $99 covers 5 PCs with commercial use permitted.
