SourceOne is out of support. Its exports are not. This Windows desktop tool takes the PST and EML files a SourceOne shutdown produces (eDiscovery cases and journal archives included) and turns them into MBOX, MSG, PDF or any of 10+ open formats. eDiscovery metadata is read automatically. Journal envelopes, BCC lists and attachments arrive intact.
*Free trial converts first 25 emails per archive. Upgrade for unlimited conversion.

What Gets Preserved
Open the output next to the source and compare. Same headers. Same addresses. Same attachments. That is the standard.
Key Features
Built against real SourceOne and EmailXtender exports.
Stubbed Mail Read Correctly
Dell EMC SourceOne stubs archived messages in user mailboxes. An export run from SourceOne itself retrieves full content from the storage tier, while a plain Exchange mailbox export copies only the stubs. This converter processes these full-content PSTs correctly, never confusing archived stubs with full message content.
Journal Archive Support
SourceOne journal archives store the original journal envelope containing BCC recipients and full SMTP routing data not visible in standard email headers. The converter preserves this compliance-critical envelope data in all output formats for SEC Rule 17a-4 and CFTC regulatory productions.
eDiscovery Case PST Support
SourceOne Discovery Manager produces PST exports for legal cases. The converter processes these case-export PSTs, preserving all custodian metadata, legal hold tags and eDiscovery case identifiers in the output. Compatible with Relativity and Nuix ingestion workflows.
Batch Multi-Mailbox Conversion
Load all per-user PST exports from SourceOne at once. Converts the entire organisation in a single pass outputting one file per mailbox. Scales from 100-user departmental migrations to full enterprise SourceOne decommissioning projects.
Original Folder Structure
Recreates the original folder hierarchy from the SourceOne PST export. Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items and all custom folder names are preserved. Users find archived emails in the correct folders after migration to M365 or Google Workspace.
100% Offline Processing
Once the PST files are exported from SourceOne and copied to the local machine, no SourceOne agent, SourceOne server or network connection is required. All conversion runs locally. Email data never leaves the secure conversion environment.
SourceOne EML Export Support
Also handles EML exports produced by SourceOne's message-level export feature. Loads EML files or folders of EML files directly. Converts to PST, MBOX, PDF or any other format, preserving all SourceOne-added metadata and X-headers.
Preview Before Converting
Browse all mailboxes, folders and messages before conversion. Verify folder structure and message counts. Apply date range, custodian or subject filters. No conversion quota consumed during preview.
Repair Broken PSTs
SourceOne PSTs occasionally have structural anomalies that cause Outlook import errors. The converter reads PST content directly without Outlook, bypassing scanpst.exe issues and extracting all recoverable content.
Complete Header Preservation
All email headers survive conversion: standard headers, SourceOne X-headers, Dell EMC transport headers and SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication results. Critical for maintaining legal admissibility of SourceOne-archived evidence.
Conversion Report
Generates a detailed report after every conversion listing messages processed per mailbox, journal envelope summary, eDiscovery case metadata and any conversion errors. Essential documentation for SourceOne decommissioning projects.
No SourceOne Agent Required
No Dell EMC SourceOne agent, SourceOne server or EMC Documentum installation needed on the conversion machine. The converter reads SourceOne-exported PST and EML files as standalone files, deployable on any Windows PC.
Complete Preservation
Metadata goes in. Metadata comes out. Nothing gets shaved off in between.
How It Works
Four steps. No SourceOne server anywhere in them.
Export from SourceOne
Using the SourceOne Administration Console or SourceOne Discovery Manager, export the target mailboxes or case as PST or EML. Run the export from SourceOne itself, not the Exchange mailbox, so full content is retrieved from the storage tier.
Collect the PST Files
Copy the per-mailbox PST files or EML exports from the SourceOne export job output to your local machine or a portable drive.
Load into Converter
Open Univik Dell EMC SourceOne Converter, click Add Files or Add Folder and select all PST or EML files. The converter detects journal archives and eDiscovery PSTs automatically.
Choose Format and Convert
Select MBOX, EML, PDF, MSG or any of 10+ output formats. Click Convert. Journal envelope data and eDiscovery metadata are embedded in the output.
Platform Compatibility
Opens Everywhere That Matters
PST for Outlook. MBOX for Google. PDF for the case file. Every output already has a destination waiting.

Why Convert
Decommissions, migrations and litigation holds. The jobs this converter gets hired for.
Stub vs Full Content Detection
Built for SourceOne's full-content PST format. Identifies stubs vs full content correctly. Requires the export to be run from SourceOne, not the Exchange mailbox.
Journal Envelope Aware
Preserves BCC and SMTP routing data from SourceOne journal archives. Required for SEC 17a-4 and CFTC regulatory productions.
eDiscovery Case Metadata
Preserves legal hold tags and case identifiers from SourceOne Discovery Manager exports. Compatible with Relativity and Nuix ingestion.
Offline & Secure
No SourceOne agent or server access after export. Runs entirely on a standalone Windows machine.
Repairs Broken PSTs
Reads SourceOne PSTs that fail scanpst.exe, extracting all recoverable content and flagging corrupted items.
M365 & Google Ready
PST imports via M365 Import Service. MBOX imports into Google Workspace. The standard SourceOne decommissioning path.
Output Formats
PST output imports into Outlook or the Microsoft 365 Import Service. MBOX imports into Google Workspace. PDF preserves journal envelopes and eDiscovery metadata for regulatory productions.

Customer Reviews
Short verdicts from real decommissions.
Decommissioning SourceOne across a 1,200-user enterprise. The converter handled journal archives and per-mailbox PSTs in the same batch. Journal envelope BCC data came through in every format. Nothing else handled SourceOne full-content PSTs reliably.
We had a SourceOne eDiscovery case export needed for a regulatory response. Legal hold tags and custodian metadata preserved in the PDF output. Opposing counsel accepted the production without challenge on chain-of-custody grounds.
Four SourceOne PSTs from a decommissioned storage tier had scanpst.exe errors. Univik read all four directly, extracted every message and produced clean MBOX for Google Workspace. The conversion report showed exactly which items were affected by the storage tier issue.

Field Notes
Exporting From SourceOne Without Surprises
Three things Dell's own knowledge base warns about, worth knowing before you run the export that feeds this converter.
Expect multi-part PSTs
Discovery Manager rolls to a fresh PST once a file reaches roughly 4.7 GB, so a big mailbox export lands as a numbered set rather than one file. Point the converter at the folder and it works through the whole set in one batch.
Watch the Work Directory
Export jobs stage messages in the worker server's Work Directory before writing the PST. When that drive fills, jobs fail with a disk space error and items go missing from the output. Check free space there before a large export, not after.
Pick the shape on purpose
PST keeps mailbox and folder structure together, which suits mailbox by mailbox conversion. EML gives one file per message, which suits per-item review. The converter reads either, so choose whatever your review process prefers.
Help Desk
Straight answers on getting mail out of SourceOne.
The PST was exported from the Exchange mailbox instead of from the archive. SourceOne replaces archived messages in Exchange with shortcut stubs that point to the archive storage tier, so a mailbox-level export copies the stubs. Export from SourceOne itself instead, through the Administration Console or Discovery Manager, so the full messages are written from the archive.
Yes. SourceOne journal archives contain the original journal envelope for each message with BCC recipients and full SMTP routing data. The converter preserves this envelope data in all output formats. For PDF output the journal envelope fields appear in document properties. For EML the fields appear as RFC-compliant X-headers. Required for regulatory productions under SEC Rule 17a-4, CFTC and MiFID II.
Yes. SourceOne Discovery Manager produces PST exports for legal cases, including custodian metadata, legal hold tags and case identifiers. The converter processes these case-export PSTs preserving all associated metadata. Output is compatible with Relativity and Nuix ingestion workflows. Custodian identifiers are embedded in EML X-headers and PDF document properties.
No. Once the PST or EML files are exported from SourceOne and copied to your local machine, no SourceOne agent, SourceOne server, EMC Documentum or any other Dell EMC infrastructure is required. Conversion runs completely offline on a standalone Windows PC. The SourceOne infrastructure can be fully decommissioned before conversion is complete.
Minimal requirements:
No SourceOne agent, Outlook or internet connection required.
Yes. Convert per-mailbox SourceOne PSTs to MBOX format. MBOX output imports directly into Google Workspace using Google's migration tools or tools like BitTitan or AvePoint. Journal envelope data is preserved in MBOX X-headers for regulatory continuity in the destination platform.
Yes. SourceOne PSTs with scanpst.exe errors are read directly by the converter, bypassing Outlook's import mechanism. Genuinely corrupted messages are flagged in the conversion report while all intact content is extracted successfully.
Free trial converts the first 25 messages per archive. All features fully functional: journal envelope handling, eDiscovery metadata, all 10+ output formats and preview. No time limit.

No. Dell EMC SourceOne reached End of Support Service on December 31, 2024, confirmed in Dell's software end of service life notifications. After that date Dell no longer provides software maintenance, bug fixes or security patches. Most SourceOne deployments still running are legacy systems held for their archived mail, which is exactly why converting the exports to open formats matters.
Yes. EmailXtender was the predecessor that SourceOne replaced and many organisations carried their EmailXtender archives into SourceOne. The converter reads standard PST and EML export files regardless of which generation of the product wrote them, so exports from EmailXtender-era archives convert the same way.
Dell EMC SourceOne is an email archiving platform that journals and stubs messages from Exchange and Notes into a central archive. It succeeded EMC EmailXtender and reached End of Support Service on December 31, 2024. The archives it built are still holding decades of mail, which is why converting its exports to open formats matters now.
It depends on where your data sits. Migration services extract mail from a live SourceOne archive at scale with chain of custody and make sense for thousands of mailboxes moving to a new platform. If you already have PST or EML exports (or your admin can produce them through the Administration Console or Discovery Manager) this converter turns them into open formats yourself at a fraction of a service engagement.
