 Key Features

What Univik Tally Data Converter Does Six export jobs the software handles with no copy of Tally on the PC

Batch Export Across Companies

Add several company folders or .001 backups to one job and export them in a single run, without opening each company by hand.

One Workbook, a Sheet per Section

Excel export writes one .xlsx file with every section on its own sheet, ready for filters, formulas and pivot tables.

Date Range Filter

Set a From and To date to export one financial year or one quarter instead of the full history of the company.

Section Select

Tick only the sections you need, for example vouchers. Everything else stays out, so files stay small and jobs finish sooner.

SQL and JSON for Developers

SQL output is meant for loading into a database and JSON for scripts and reporting tools. XML, HTML and TXT cover older systems.

Damaged and Newer Data Too

Companies marked damaged, .1800 data from a newer TallyPrime release and .001 backups all export with no repair, upgrade or restore.

 The Short Version

Why Export Tally Data Outside Tally?

Because every export route inside Tally starts with a running, licensed copy and a company that loads. When either one is missing, the books stay locked in the data folder.

Trap 1: Every Built-In Export Needs Tally Open

Export (Alt+E), ODBC and XML integration all work only while TallyPrime runs with at least one company loaded, per Tally's integration prerequisites. A licence that has not been online for 30 days drops to Educational mode.

Trap 2: Backups and Newer Releases Block the Way

A .001 backup has to be restored before Tally will export anything from it. A company saved by a higher TallyPrime release will not load in a lower one, so there is nothing to export.

The Way Out: Export From the Files Themselves

Univik Tally Data Converter reads .500, .900 and .1800 company files and .001 backups directly and writes them out in batch. Our advice: export to Excel first and check the closing balances against the last report you trust. Then produce CSV, JSON or SQL for the system you are moving to.

 What Comes Out

Readable copies for records, printing or a quick look in a browser or text editor.

 Who Uses It

When Do You Need a Tally Data Converter?

Moving to Another Accounting System

The new system imports Excel or CSV. Export every company in one batch, then map the columns on the import screen.

Year-End Files for the Auditor

Set the date range to one financial year and send a single workbook instead of a stack of screenshots.

Feeding a Reporting Database

JSON and SQL output let a developer load years of vouchers into a database without an ODBC link to a running Tally.

 Before You Export

Which Tally Company Folder Should You Export?

Good to know

Migration to TallyPrime 3.0 creates a new 6-digit company such as 100000. The original 5-digit company such as 10000 stays in place for the older release. If both folders sit in the data path, entries made after the migration live in the 6-digit folder.

A .001 backup holds the company as it was on the day of the backup, so the live folder is usually newer. TallyPrime shows the data path under Alt+Y (Data) > Data Path. The guide to Tally data files explains every file in a company folder.
