Quick answer: Tencent Exmail uses imap.exmail.qq.com on port 993 with SSL for IMAP, per the help pages of Tencent. Sending goes through smtp.exmail.qq.com on 465 and POP3 uses pop.exmail.qq.com on 995. Sign in as your full company address. The Exmail password works with secure login off. Otherwise use a client-specific password. Mail apps also need the IMAP service switched on first.
Before You Begin#
Handle these two basics before anything else. Skip them and the mail app will reject the connection even when every server value is correct.
1. Check that Exmail hosts your mail
The values on this page are for company mailboxes on Tencent Exmail. IMAP is imap.exmail.qq.com on 993 and sending is smtp.exmail.qq.com on 465.

2. Turn on IMAP in web mail
Exmail blocks mail apps until the service is switched on. The administrator sets a scope and then each member turns on the service.

About Tencent Exmail#
Tencent Exmail is the business email service of Tencent for company domains. Tencent's Chinese help center calls it WeCom Mail (企业微信邮箱) and manages it from the WeCom admin console.
An Exmail address ends in your own company domain, so no single domain name identifies the service. The server hosts are the same for every company. You log in with the whole address and either the Exmail password or a client-specific password.
| Service Name | Tencent Exmail (WeCom Mail) |
| Email Domain | Your own company domain |
| Service Operator | Tencent |
| Email Type | Company address, for example name@yourcompany.com |
| Admin Console | WeCom admin console |
| IMAP Host | imap.exmail.qq.com |
| POP3 Host | pop.exmail.qq.com |
| SMTP Host | smtp.exmail.qq.com |
| Protocols Supported | IMAP, POP3, SMTP, Exchange |
| Username | Full company address |

Check If Your Company Email Uses Tencent Exmail#
The domain name alone does not tell you, because every company uses its own. The MX records of the domain do. Tencent's help center lists two MX hosts for its mail service:
| MX host | Priority |
|---|---|
mxbiz1.qq.com | 5 |
mxbiz2.qq.com | 10 |
Source: WeCom Help Center, DNS and MX settings (Chinese).
Look up the MX records of your domain with any DNS lookup tool. If both hosts appear, your mail usually runs on Tencent Exmail and every value on this page applies. If they do not, your mail sits with another provider. Use the address lookup or ask your administrator.
Turn On IMAP in Tencent Exmail#
Exmail refuses an IMAP login until two switches are on. An administrator sets a service scope in the WeCom admin console and then each member turns on the service in web mail.
Administrator: set the scope
- Open the WeCom admin console and go to Collaboration (协作) and then Mail (邮件).
- Open Security management (安全管理) and then Client access permissions (客户端访问权限).
- Set the IMAP/SMTP service scope so that it includes the member.
Member: turn on the service
- Sign in to web mail on a computer.
- Open Settings (设置) and then Send/receive settings (收发信设置).
- Turn on the IMAP/SMTP service (开启服务).
- If you cannot tick the box, ask your administrator whether the scope covers you.
Receiving Range and Folder Options#
Three options on the Send/receive settings screen set the amount of mail an IMAP login can reach. A fourth one decides where mail sent from an app is stored.
| Option | What Tencent says |
|---|---|
| Receiving range | If receiving is not set to all mail, a client may pull only the last 30 days. Set it to all mail. |
| Receive my folders (收取我的文件夹) | IMAP needs this tick to read custom folders. |
| Locked folders | A locked Exmail folder does not sync until you unlock it in web mail. |
| Save sent mail on the server (保存已发送至服务器) | Tick it so mail sent from an app appears in the web Sent folder. At 500,000 mails in the mailbox, newly sent mail stops syncing to that folder. It resumes after a clean-up but older mails do not catch up. |

Tencent Exmail IMAP Settings#
IMAP keeps a mailbox in sync. Mail stays on the server, so a laptop and a phone read the same folders. The incoming host is imap.exmail.qq.com over port 993.
| IMAP Server | imap.exmail.qq.com | |
| Port | 993 | |
| Encryption | SSL (required) | |
| Username | Your full company address | |
| Password | Your Exmail password or a client-specific password |
Source: WeCom Help Center, client protocol settings (Chinese).
Tencent Exmail POP3 Settings#
POP3 reads the web inbox only. Pick it when you want an inbox copy on one computer. Not sure? See the POP3 vs IMAP comparison.
| POP3 Server | pop.exmail.qq.com | |
| Port | 995 | |
| Encryption | SSL (required) | |
| Username | Your full company address | |
| Password | Your Exmail password or a client-specific password |
Source: WeCom Help Center, client protocol settings (Chinese).
Tencent Exmail SMTP Settings#
SMTP sends the outgoing mail. If you can read mail but not send it, the problem is here.
| SMTP Server | smtp.exmail.qq.com | |
| Port | 465 | |
| Encryption | SSL (required) | |
| Username | Your full company address | |
| Password | Same as incoming mail |
Source: WeCom Help Center, client protocol settings (Chinese). Tencent lists port 465 for sending.
Xinchuang Mailbox Settings#
Some companies run Xinchuang (信创) mailboxes, which use a separate set of hosts. Your administrator knows whether yours is one. The ports and the SSL setting stay the same as for a standard mailbox.
| Protocol | Standard mailbox | Xinchuang mailbox | Port |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP | imap.exmail.qq.com | xcimap.exmail.qq.com | 993 SSL |
| POP3 | pop.exmail.qq.com | xcpop.exmail.qq.com | 995 SSL |
| SMTP | smtp.exmail.qq.com | xcsmtp.exmail.qq.com | 465 SSL |
| Exchange | ex.exmail.qq.com on 443 SSL | Not supported | 443 SSL |
Source: WeCom Help Center, client protocol settings (Chinese). Tencent also lists no contact sync for Xinchuang mailboxes.
Username and Password#
The username is your whole company address. The password depends on one setting. With secure login off it is your Exmail password. With secure login on, Tencent says the mail app needs a client-specific password (客户端专用密码) instead.
Username is the full address
Type the complete company address, for example name@yourcompany.com. Put the same address on incoming and outgoing.
Password depends on secure login
Secure login off: the Exmail mailbox password. Secure login on: a client-specific password, which Tencent also calls the client authorization code.
To make a client-specific password:
- Sign in to web mail on a computer.
- Open Settings (设置) and then Mailbox binding (邮箱绑定).
- Press Generate new password (生成新密码) in the client-specific password part.
- Paste the new password into the password box of your mail app.

- Save and wait for the mailbox to load.
iPhone and iPad
- In Settings open Mail, then tap Mail Accounts and Add Account.
- Tap Other and then Add Mail Account and fill in the details.
- Keep IMAP chosen and put imap.exmail.qq.com in the incoming box and smtp.exmail.qq.com in the outgoing box.
- Type the password. With secure login on, that is the client-specific password.
- Tap Save and let iOS run the check.
Android

- Save and swipe down to fetch the mail.
Thunderbird
- In Thunderbird pick Account Actions, then Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, the full company address and the password, then Continue.
- Wait for detection, then check that IMAP with SSL is picked.
- If detection fails, type imap.exmail.qq.com and smtp.exmail.qq.com in yourself.
- Press Done and the folders fill in on the first sync.
POP3 vs IMAP#
Tencent's own comparison page lists these differences between the two protocols on Exmail.
| Feature | IMAP | POP3 |
|---|---|---|
| Folders synced | Every folder of the web mailbox | The web inbox only |
| Moves, reads and deletes in the app | Sent back to the server both ways | Not sent to the server |
| Mail download | Can fetch the subject first and the full message when needed | Downloads the message |
| Known limits | Deleting and renaming folders from the app is not supported yet | No folder support |
| Suits | Phone and computer together, full folder copy | One computer, inbox only |

Troubleshooting Tencent Exmail Connections#
Find the message that the mail app shows, then apply the fix:
| What you see | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Login rejected | The wrong password type or a short username | Type the full company address. If secure login is on, use a client-specific password, not the Exmail password. |
| The service box cannot be ticked | No IMAP/SMTP scope for your account | Ask your administrator to set the scope under client access permissions. |
| Cannot connect to server | Wrong host, port or encryption | Set imap.exmail.qq.com on 993 with SSL for IMAP. A Xinchuang mailbox needs xcimap.exmail.qq.com. A firewall on your own machine can block it as well. |
| Only the last 30 days of mail | Receiving is not set to all mail | Change the receiving range in Send/receive settings. See receiving range and folder options. |
| Custom folders missing | Receive my folders is off or a folder is locked | Tick Receive my folders and unlock the folder in web mail. |
| Mail will not send | Wrong outgoing host or password | Use smtp.exmail.qq.com on 465 with SSL and the same password as incoming mail. |
| Login worked and then failed | Secure login was turned off or the password was disabled | A client-specific password stops working when it is disabled or when secure login is turned off. Make a new one. |

How We Check These Settings#
Univik builds email backup, migration and converter software since 2013. Our tools connect to the IMAP and SMTP servers of each provider, which is why we publish these reference pages.
The Exmail values on this page come from the help pages of Tencent WeCom, read on 1 November 2026. Univik has not yet run these values on a live Exmail mailbox, so treat them as the settings published by the provider. The English menu labels translate Tencent's Chinese names.
