 Key Features

Six Tasks for Your .fox File What Univik Foxmail Converter does with it

Univik Software works as a FOX file viewer for six tasks when your file is a Foxmail .fox archive.

Open and Preview the Mail

Press Open and choose the .fox file. Messages inside get a preview, so you view FOX file mail without Foxmail.

Supports Foxmail Archive Files

Univik Software supports the .fox files that Foxmail's account archive creates. One file belongs to one account, so Foxmail with two accounts gives you two files to open.

No Foxmail on the PC

New laptops and spare desktops are enough. Only making the archive takes Foxmail and opening it does not.

Targets You Already Use

Export offers five groups of targets. EML, MBOX and PST come under Email Files. PDF, HTML, TEXT and CSV come under Document Files.

Trial Before You Pay

Trial mode exports 10 items per folder, a fair sample for checking one account's .fox file against Foxmail.

Storage Folders Open Too

Foxmail Storage folders open too and contain the live mailbox. Mail Archive covers only the date range you archived, so the Storage folder is the second thing to copy. Where Does Foxmail Store Emails? maps it.

 Problem

Why a .fox File Is Hard to Open

Double click a .fox file and Windows asks you to choose a program. Which one is right depends on who made the file. Extensions alone do not say.

Double Click and Guess

Univik knows of no Windows app for .fox that ships with the system. Anything you choose from the app list is a guess. Programs that do not know the file fail to open it.

File Type Websites Name Four Owners

FileInfo lists a .fox file as an InfoZoom data file or a Furcadia art file. FILExt adds FoxPro code and Foxmail archives. Listings do not tell you which kind you have.

Find the Owner First, Then Open It

Check where the file came from, because a .fox file in a Foxmail archive folder came from Mail Archive. Click Open in Univik Foxmail Converter as your FOX file viewer, select the file and view the mail in the preview. Foxmail Email Viewer covers Foxmail's own reopening and Storage copies.

 Identify It

Which Kind of .fox File Do You Have?

.fox

Foxmail Mail Archive File

In Foxmail 7.2.25.563 on a Univik test PC, Mail Archive creates one .fox file per account. Mail inside covers the date range you set in the dialog, so the file is a slice of the mailbox and not the full account.

.fox

InfoZoom and Furcadia Files

FileInfo lists .fox as the data format of InfoZoom and as the art format of Furcadia. Neither contains Foxmail mail.

.fox

FoxPro Code Files

FILExt lists FoxPro source code under .fox too. Files found in an old database folder are probably code and not mail.

 Three Steps

How to Open FOX File Archives

Three steps put the FOX file viewer to work on a Foxmail archive. Files from InfoZoom, Furcadia or FoxPro need support from those programs' own guides instead.

1

Check Who Made the File

Look at the folder first. Files in the folder you chose in Mail Archive are Foxmail archives while files inside game or database folders are not mail.

2

Open It in the Converter

Press Open in Univik Foxmail Converter and choose the .fox file to open FOX file mail in a preview with no Foxmail on the PC. Inside Foxmail, use its Import menu and the archive entry that Foxmail 7 guides describe.

3

View It and Check the Count

View FOX file mail in the preview. Choose a target in the Export menu to keep a copy and open the EML or PDF files in a program you use daily. Compare the message count with Foxmail for that account and date range before you delete the source.

 Real Situations

When You Need a FOX File Viewer

Three situations where a .fox file lands on your desk.

Old Archives, New Computer

You saved .fox files years ago and the new PC has no Foxmail. Univik Software works as a FOX file viewer without Foxmail, so you view the mail in the preview now and export EML or PDF copies later. Move Foxmail to a New Computer covers the live mailbox.

.fox File From Someone Else

Your colleague sends a .fox file and you do not use Foxmail. Ask which program made it, because the extension has four common owners. If the answer is Foxmail Mail Archive, click Open and view FOX file mail in the preview.

Records and Reference

Old client mail has to stay available for years. Keep the original .fox file as it is and view a converted copy. Foxmail Forensics and eDiscovery covers evidence work.

 Finding the File

Where Foxmail Creates Its .fox Files

Mail Archive

In Foxmail 7.2.25.563 on a Univik test PC, Mail Archive sits under the menu icon at the top right, then Tools. Tools lists Filters Manager, Label Manager, Attachment Manager and PST Viewer as well. Mail Archiver asks for an account, a date range and a folder before Start Archiving.

Files end up in the folder named in the folder field. Tested on Foxmail 7.2 with a sample store of 2,876 messages in one account and 2,548 in the other. File sizes follow the mailbox, so read each size in the folder after the run. Archive Foxmail Emails explains the dialog fields.

 Side by Side

Three Ways to Open a .fox File

Foxmail's own import is worth a try first. Table rows set Foxmail, file type websites and the FOX file viewer side by side.

 Questions

FOX File Viewer Questions

.fox is not one format. Foxmail’s Mail Archive tool creates .fox files, one per configured account. FileInfo lists InfoZoom data files and Furcadia art files under .fox and FILExt adds FoxPro code, so check which program made yours before you try to open it.

Yes, Univik Foxmail Converter opens .fox files and shows the mail in a preview with no Foxmail needed. Foxmail reopens its own archives too. Other .fox files are not Foxmail mail, so Univik Software has no use for those.

Press Open in Univik Foxmail Converter and choose the .fox file to see a preview of the mail with no Foxmail on the PC. To keep a copy, choose a target such as EML or PDF in the Export menu. FOX File Converter covers the targets.

The Import list in Foxmail 7.2 on a Univik test PC shows a Foxmail Archive entry and guides for Foxmail 7 say to select the .fox file, choose the account and start the import. Foxmail added .fox import in version 7.2 on 23 January 2014, according to the changelog on Foxmail for Windows. Try the import on a spare copy of Foxmail first.

Univik does not suggest a rename. Renaming changes the label and not the contents. Contents decide which program can open the file.

No, Mail Archive creates one .fox file per account, so two accounts give two files. Foxmail 7.2.25.563 offers All accounts in the Account dropdown and still creates separate files per account.

Only the date range you choose in the Mail Archiver dialog ends up in the file. Date Range showed Three months ago on a Univik test PC. Foxmail keeps the full account in the Storage folder, so copy it as well and see Where Does Foxmail Store Emails? for the paths.

FileInfo says InfoZoom opens its own data files and Furcadia opens its art files. Univik Foxmail Converter is a FOX file viewer for Foxmail mail only and has no use for those two.

Trial mode costs nothing and processes 10 items per folder, a fair sample from one account’s archive. Licences lift the limit at $39 for 2 PCs. Refunds are available within 30 days.

No, Univik Foxmail Converter is a Windows 11 and Windows 10 program. Mac users can move the .fox file to a Windows PC, convert it there and carry the EML or MBOX files back. Open EML Files Online Without Outlook shows one message in a browser.

Compiled by Univik Product team

Univik product staff checked these details on 22 October 2026 against the software, the changelog on Foxmail for Windows, FileInfo and FILExt. Menu paths and the Mail Archiver dialog come from Foxmail 7.2.25.563 on a Univik test PC.

Univik confirmed that Mail Archive creates one .fox file per configured account and that the FOX file viewer in the converter supports those files. Univik has not timed a .fox conversion yet and gives no speed or size figures here.
