Key Features
Mail Archive creates a .fox file per account. Univik Software supports those files, so an old archive needn't wait for Foxmail's Import menu.
One .fox file covers one account. Convert the files one at a time and name output folders after their owners, so two mailboxes never mix.
Choose PST for Outlook and MBOX or the Thunderbird option for Thunderbird. Gmail, Office 365 and IMAP take an upload. Preview shows what goes out before you save a file.
PDF output creates one PDF per email, with attachments beside it or embedded. PDF software opens it long after Foxmail is gone.
Keep the first archive as your original. Copy it to a working folder before you start, so a wrong click costs you nothing.
Open shows the mail inside the .fox file with a preview of the messages. Check an old archive first and convert it only when it matches what you expect.
Univik Software opens a .fox file with no Foxmail on the PC. New laptops and spare desktops work too. Only making the archive needs Foxmail.
Date Range in Mail Archive limits an archive to a short span of mail. Open that small archive on the free trial and check the preview before you commit to a decade of mail.
Problem
.fox is the extension of Foxmail's own archive. Other mail programs don't know it, so a double click gets you nowhere. Both usual options have a catch.
Foxmail's Import Menu Keeps Mail Inside Foxmail
Foxmail 7.2 added the import of .fox files in January 2014, according to the changelog on Foxmail for Windows. Guides describe a restore under the account. Mail stays inside Foxmail, so Outlook and Thunderbird still can't open it.
Extension Lookups Point Several Ways
Lookup sites tie .fox to InfoZoom data, Furcadia game art and FoxPro code besides Foxmail. Those four open in four different programs. Check where your file came from.
Convert the .fox File Into an Open Format
Univik Software supports .fox files. Convert FOX file archives and the mail lands in a format your next program opens. Keep the original until you open the output and check the folders.
Inside the Archive
.fox
Archive File
Mail Archive drops one .fox file per configured account into the folder you choose. Foxmail 7.2.25.563 on a Univik test PC shows a Browser button beside that folder field.
Date Range
Mail Range
Mail Archiver offers a Date Range dropdown that starts at Three months ago. Your .fox file therefore covers the range you chose, not always the full account.
Storage
Live Copy
Foxmail keeps live mail in the Storage folder and Mail Archive leaves it in place. The Delete mails after archive box is unticked in the Foxmail 7.2 dialog. Where Does Foxmail Store Emails? maps that folder.
Make or Find the .fox File
In Foxmail 7.2 open Menu and then Tools. Choose Mail Archive and press Start Archiving. Foxmail creates a .fox file per account in the folder named in the dialog.
Open It and Choose the Output
Start Univik Foxmail Converter, click Open and select the .fox file to see a preview of its mail. Open the Export menu and choose Email Files for PST, MBOX or EML. Choose Document Files for PDF or Email Services for Gmail, Office 365 and IMAP.
Start and Open the Result
Start the conversion. Open the output in Outlook, Thunderbird or PDF software and compare folder names and message counts with Foxmail before you delete the source.

Typical Uses
Leaving Foxmail for Outlook
You archived your accounts before the switch. Convert all .fox files to PST and Outlook opens them. How to Move Foxmail to Outlook has the import steps.
Old Archives on a Spare Drive
Years of .fox files sit on an old drive and the PC that made them is gone. Convert them while you still know whose file is whose. Move Foxmail to a New Computer covers the same question.
Records Folder
Contracts and client mail need a copy that opens without Foxmail. Convert to PDF for one PDF per email. Keep the archive as the original.
Before You Start
In Foxmail 7.2.25.563 the dialog shows an Account dropdown, a Date Range dropdown, a folder field with a Browser button, a Delete mails after archive box and Start Archiving. Leave the Delete box unticked until you have opened the result and know it holds the mail you expect.
Copy the archives to a working folder on a drive with free space. Univik's test copy has two IMAP mailboxes with 2,876 messages in one and 2,548 in the other. Archiving it should give two .fox files.
Univik has not timed a .fox conversion yet, so convert one small archive first to learn the pace.
