Quick answer: Proximus mail uses imap.proximus.be on 993 for IMAP or pop.proximus.be on 995 for POP3, each over SSL. Sending goes through relay.proximus.be on 587 with authentication. Sign in with your full address and your Proximus password. The address can end in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net. Receiving but cannot send? Your IP could be blocked.
What Changed Recently#
Proximus runs three email domains on one platform. Here is the current status and what a proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net address needs.
Worth knowing
Skynet and Belgacom addresses still work. Proximus moved them onto the Proximus Mail platform. They sign in through the same servers.
Worth knowing
One incoming server for all three. Whether your address ends in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net, incoming mail comes from imap.proximus.be.
Worth knowing
Sending uses relay.proximus.be. The outgoing server is named relay, not smtp, on port 587 with a login.
Before You Begin#
Handle these two basics before anything else. Skip them and your email app will reject the connection even when every server value is correct.
1. A Proximus, Skynet or Belgacom address
Your address ends in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net. All three use the same servers and one password.
Where: MyProximus
2. Your Proximus password
The password sits in MyProximus. Reset it there if an app stops connecting.

About Proximus#
Proximus is Belgium largest telecom operator, formerly Belgacom. Its email covers the proximus.be, skynet.be and belgacom.net domains on one Proximus Mail platform.
Proximus grew out of Belgacom, the former Belgian state telecom. Skynet was its internet and portal brand. Over time Proximus brought the old skynet.be and belgacom.net mailboxes onto its unified Proximus Mail platform. Those addresses still work today. Incoming mail for all three domains comes from imap.proximus.be. Sending goes through relay.proximus.be.

Proximus Webmail Login#
You can always read your mail in a browser. The official sign in pages are:
Find Your Settings#
Proximus fills the settings in for most apps. Incoming is imap.proximus.be or pop.proximus.be, while sending leaves through relay.proximus.be. The values are the same for all three domains.
- Open your email app and add a new account.
- Choose IMAP on 993 or POP3 on 995.
- Set incoming to imap.proximus.be with SSL.
- Set outgoing to relay.proximus.be on 587 with a login.
Proximus IMAP Settings#
IMAP keeps a Proximus mailbox in sync. Mail stays on the server, so a laptop and a phone read one shared inbox. The incoming host is imap.proximus.be over 993.
| IMAP Server | imap.proximus.be | |
| Port | 993 | |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full address ending in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net | |
| Password | Your mailbox password | |
| Authentication | Required |
Proximus POP3 Settings#
POP3 downloads mail to 1 device. Pick it only if you want a local copy on a single computer. Not sure? See the comparison below.
| POP3 Server | pop.proximus.be | |
| Port | 995 | |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full email address | |
| Password | Your mailbox password |
Proximus SMTP Settings#
SMTP handles outgoing mail. If you can read mail but not send it, the problem is here.
| SMTP Server | relay.proximus.be | |
| Port | 587 | |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net address | |
| Password | Your Proximus password | |
| Authentication | Required. Turn on outgoing server authentication in the client. |
relay.proximus.be at 587 with a login. Many home connections block port 25. Proximus uses relay.proximus.be on 587 for sending. Confirm outgoing authentication is on.
Check Proximus Settings Online#
You don't need to download anything to check Proximus settings online. This page is the lookup: every value is verified, current and copyable straight from your browser. Not sure which server your address uses? Type it below to check in a moment.
Does my email address use these settings?
Runs in your browser only. Your address is never sent anywhere or stored.
Want to verify the account itself before configuring an app? Sign in at Proximus Webmail, which confirms your address and password work. If webmail opens, any email app connects with the tables above.
Look Up IMAP Settings for Any Email Domain#
This page covers Proximus. For every other address, work email on a company domain included, we run a free online lookup database: imapsettings.com.
imapsettings.com
Complete email settings database, by Univik
Enter any email address and get the incoming and outgoing server settings for that domain in 1 step:
Your address is used only to find the settings for that domain. Nothing is stored or shared.
Username and Password#
Both come from your Proximus account. The username is your full address, ending in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net. The password is your Proximus mail password, managed in MyProximus. There is no separate app password.
Username is the full address
Type your full address in, with the part after the at sign. A bare mailbox name is turned down.
Put that same address on both incoming and outgoing.
Password is the mailbox one
This is your Proximus mail password, managed in MyProximus. Reset it there if an app keeps refusing it.
Proximus manages your password in MyProximus, so there is no separate app password to set up.
Set Up Proximus in Email Clients#
The servers and ports are always the same. Only the menus differ. Jump to your app:
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- In Outlook select Add Account, then turn on manual setup under Advanced options.
- Choose IMAP and set incoming to
imap.proximus.beon 993 with SSL. - Set outgoing to
relay.proximus.beon 587 with a login. - Enter the full address and mailbox password when Outlook prompts you.
- Send a test message to yourself to prove both paths.
Apple Mail (macOS)
- In Mail select Add Account, then pick Other Mail Account.
- Give your name, full address and password, then continue.
- Enter imap.proximus.be for incoming and relay.proximus.be for outgoing.
- Keep the SSL ports so nothing sends in plain text.
- Save and wait for the mailbox to load.
iPhone and iPad
- In Settings open Mail, then tap Mail Accounts and Add Account.
- Tap Other then Add Mail Account and fill your details.
- Keep IMAP chosen and put imap.proximus.be for incoming with relay.proximus.be for outgoing.
- Leave the secure ports iOS fills, since Proximus expects SSL.
- Tap Save and let iOS run its check.
Android
- Open your mail app and tap Add account, then Other or IMAP.
- Put in your address and password. Switch to manual setup if it stalls.
- For incoming use imap.proximus.be on 993 over SSL.
- For outgoing use relay.proximus.be on 587 with a login.
- Save and swipe down to fetch your mail.
Thunderbird
- In Thunderbird pick Account Actions, then Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, full address and password, then Continue.
- Wait for detection, then make sure IMAP with SSL is picked.
- If detection fails, type imap.proximus.be and relay.proximus.be in yourself.
- Hit Done and the folders fill in on the first sync.
Proximus Webmail Settings#
Server settings connect your apps. These controls decide how the mailbox behaves on the server. They live in Proximus Webmail at proximus.be/webmail.
Signature
Add one in the Proximus Webmail preferences. It rides on mail sent from the browser. A desktop app keeps its own signature.
Vacation Auto Reply
Turn on an out of office reply in Proximus Webmail. The server sends it, so it goes out even when your computer is off.
Filters and Folders
Build filters in Proximus Webmail. A server side rule sorts a message before any device downloads it. An in app rule only runs while that app is open.
Spam and Blocked Senders
Proximus screens incoming mail for spam. Block unwanted senders in Proximus Webmail. Flagged mail lands in the junk folder for a look.
POP3 vs IMAP#
| Feature | IMAP | POP3 |
|---|---|---|
| Where mail lives | On the Proximus server | Downloaded to 1 device |
| Multiple devices | ✅ Everything stays in sync | ❌ Each device sees different mail |
| Sent and deleted mail | ✅ Synced everywhere | ⚠️ Stays only on that device |
| Offline reading | ⚠️ Cached mail only | ✅ Full local copy |
| Server storage used | Yes, counts against your quota | Can be freed after download |
| Best for | Phone + computer, everyday use | Single PC, local archives |
Proximus Domains and Servers at a Glance#
A few details are worth knowing before you set up an app on a Proximus, Skynet or Belgacom address. Here is how the platform is arranged:
| Setup protocol | IMAP or POP3 |
| Login name | Full proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net address |
| Incoming host | imap.proximus.be |
| Outgoing host | relay.proximus.be on 587 |
| Password reset | MyProximus |
| Legacy domains | skynet.be and belgacom.net still work |
Troubleshooting Proximus Connections#
Find the exact error your email app shows, then apply the fix:
| Error you see | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Username or password rejected | Short username or wrong password | Use your full address with your Proximus password from MyProximus. A bare mailbox name is turned down. |
| Cannot send on port 25 | ISP blocks the default SMTP port | Switch outgoing to relay.proximus.be on 587 with a login. The outgoing server is relay, not smtp. |
| A skynet.be address will not connect | It uses the Proximus servers now | Set incoming to imap.proximus.be and outgoing to relay.proximus.be. Your skynet.be address works on the Proximus platform. |
| Sending fails but receiving works | The outgoing server is wrong | Set outgoing to relay.proximus.be on 587, not an smtp address. Turn on outgoing authentication. |
| Cannot connect to server | Wrong port or encryption | Set 993 with SSL incoming and relay.proximus.be on 587 outgoing. A firewall on your own machine can block it as well. |
| Repeated password prompt | Short username or a typo | Clear the saved login, then put in the full address with the mailbox password. |
| Messages stuck in Outbox | SMTP authentication is off | Enable "outgoing server requires authentication" with the same login as incoming mail. |
| You can receive but cannot send | Your IP is on the Proximus blacklist | Check your WAN IP on Cisco Talos or MX Toolbox. Scan for malware, then request removal through the Proximus delist form. |
| Blocked again right after a delist | The cause was not cleared | A device or infection is still sending. Run a full malware scan before you delist. Otherwise the block returns. |
Reader Reported Fixes
Use the relay server for sending. Proximus sends through relay.proximus.be on 587, not smtp.proximus.be. Enter that with an authenticated login and the alert clears.
Test the login in webmail first. Sign in at proximus.be/webmail with your address and password. If webmail opens, the credentials are right and the issue is in the app settings.
When Proximus Blocks Your Sending IP #
One odd fault is mail that arrives fine but will not send. If your address looks switched off or a send is refused, Proximus could have blocked your connection. It keeps a blacklist of sending IP addresses that look like a source of spam.
The block sits on your outgoing internet address, not your mailbox. Too many messages at once can trigger it. So can spam or phishing from your connection. A device such as a printer or an infected computer sending in the background does the same. A shared or changing home address can even carry a mark left by an earlier user.
You can still send from Proximus Webmail while this is on. To clear it, check your address first. Look up your outgoing IP reputation on a tool like Cisco Talos or MX Toolbox. Run a malware scan so nothing is still sending in the background, then ask Proximus to remove the address through its delist form. Skip the scan and the block returns.
| Item | What to know |
|---|---|
| What you see | Mail receives but will not send |
| The cause | Your outgoing IP is on the Proximus blacklist |
| Common triggers | Spam, a mass send or an infected device |
| Meanwhile | You can still send from Proximus Webmail |
| Check it | Cisco Talos or MX Toolbox on your WAN IP |
| Fix it | Scan for malware, then use the delist form (up to 3 times a week) |
Moving Mail In or Out?#
Proximus mail speaks plain IMAP, so a mailbox moves in or out like any standard account. Each folder stays on the server until the copy finishes.
Take a copy first. Back up the mailbox before a move. A note that arrives mid switch can sit on either side. A copy keeps you safe.
Carrying mail across? The Univik Email Migration Tool moves each folder over an IMAP link. Give it imap.proximus.be with your full address and password on this side and the other account opposite.
Rather hand it off? Our Email Migration Services team runs the whole move and verifies each folder arrived.
Use These Settings in Univik Email Backup#
The same IMAP settings above let you download your complete Proximus mailbox to your computer. Univik Email Backup saves everything as PST, MBOX, EML or PDF files you keep forever, even if the account closes.
- Download Univik Email Backup and install it on Windows.
- Select Proximus or Skynet from the source list. If neither is listed, pick a plain IMAP account.
- Give the complete email address with your mailbox password. The login name is always the whole email address.
- When the backup tool wants server details, hand it imap.proximus.be on port 993 with SSL. Take those values straight from the IMAP table above, with port
993over SSL. - Pick a saving format and folder, then start the backup. Large mailboxes download in the background.
Email Settings Glossary#
IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol. Reads mail that stays on the server, so all your devices see the same inbox, folders and read status.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3. Downloads mail to 1 device and can remove it from the server. Older method, still useful for local archives.
SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Sends your outgoing mail. Every account needs it next to IMAP or POP3, which only receive.
SSL / TLS / STARTTLS
Encryption for the connection. SSL/TLS encrypts from the start (ports 993 and 995). STARTTLS upgrades a plain connection (port 587).
Proximus Password
The one password for your Proximus mailbox, managed in MyProximus. It opens Proximus Webmail and your email apps for proximus.be, skynet.be and belgacom.net alike.
imap.proximus.be
Proximus incoming mail host. Your IMAP client fetches mail from imap.proximus.be on 993 over SSL, whatever the domain. POP3 uses pop.proximus.be on 995.
relay.proximus.be
Proximus outgoing mail host. Sending goes through relay.proximus.be on 587 with an authenticated login. The name is relay, not smtp.
Proximus Mail
The unified platform that runs proximus.be, skynet.be and belgacom.net mail. The old domains were moved onto it and still work.
skynet.be
A legacy Proximus email domain from the Skynet internet brand. It still works and uses the same servers as proximus.be.
Proximus Webmail
The Proximus mailbox in a browser, at proximus.be/webmail. Sign in with your full address and your Proximus password.
MyProximus
The Proximus account area where you manage your mailbox and reset your email password. It is separate from your webmail inbox.
belgacom.net
A legacy Proximus email domain from the Belgacom era. Like skynet.be, it still works on the Proximus Mail platform.
Blacklist
A list of sending IP addresses Proximus blocks to stop spam. An address on it can receive mail but cannot send through relay.proximus.be.
Delist Request
Asking Proximus to remove your IP from its blacklist, through the abuse form. It runs up to three times a week and works only once the cause is fixed.
Sending Reputation
How trustworthy your outgoing IP looks to mail servers. Tools like Cisco Talos or MX Toolbox rate it. A poor score points to a block.
How We Verify These Settings#
Univik builds email backup, migration and converter software since 2013. Our tools sign in to Proximus over IMAP and SMTP every day for thousands of users, so a changed server, port or login rule shows up in our connection logs before most guides notice it.
Every value on this page is confirmed with three checks: a live IMAP and SMTP connection from Univik Email Backup, a comparison against the Proximus support pages and a sign in with a real mailbox using the full address. We re verify after any provider announcement and at least once a quarter.
Found something that no longer matches what Proximus shows you? Tell us and we will retest and update the page, with the change logged in what changed recently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Proximus mail uses imap.proximus.be on 993 for IMAP or pop.proximus.be on 995 for POP3, each over SSL. Sending goes through relay.proximus.be on 587 with authentication. Sign in with your full address and your Proximus password. The IMAP settings section holds the full table.
Check the username first. It must be the complete address rather than the part before the at sign. Use your full address as the username and your Proximus password from MyProximus. The address can end in proximus.be, skynet.be or belgacom.net. There is no separate app password.
IMAP keeps mail on the server so every device matches. POP3 downloads it to one device and can lose it if that device fails. IMAP uses imap.proximus.be on 993 and POP3 uses pop.proximus.be on 995. Full comparison here.
Yes. The server, ports and encryption match on iPhone, Android and Windows. Only the path to the settings screen shifts by app, which the client setup guides spell out.
Yes. Proximus moved them onto its Proximus Mail platform. They still send and receive. Use imap.proximus.be for incoming and relay.proximus.be for outgoing, the same as a proximus.be address. Your address and password do not change.
Yes. Keep SSL on incoming and outgoing so your sign in never travels in the open. Reset the password in MyProximus if you ever need to. Keep it off other sites.
An email client with IMAP downloads mail as it syncs, but a dedicated backup tool is faster and saves standard files you can open anywhere. See how to back up your Proximus mailbox. If you already exported files in another format, an email converter changes them to PST, PDF or whatever your new app opens.
The usual cause is the outgoing server. Sending goes through relay.proximus.be on 587 with a login, not an smtp address. If a skynet.be or belgacom.net setup dropped, point incoming at imap.proximus.be, since those domains run on the Proximus platform now.
A migration tool copies mail across the two accounts on an IMAP link. Give the Proximus IMAP settings with your Proximus password on this side and the destination details on the other. Each folder lands with its dates intact.
If setting this up feels risky or you have many accounts to move, our managed email migration service does the entire job for you.
Proximus likely blocked your outgoing IP address on its blacklist, which stops sending while letting mail arrive. It follows spam-like activity from your connection, often a background device or an infection rather than you. Check your WAN IP reputation on Cisco Talos or MX Toolbox, run a malware scan, then request removal through the Proximus delist form. You can send from Proximus Webmail in the meantime. The section above has the steps.
