The servers are Yahoo servers. Use imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com. The old smtp.broadband.rogers.com send server still resolves for existing setups.

Earlier change

No new addresses, plus email tied to your Internet. Since April 3, 2024, Rogers does not create new email addresses. Existing ones continue, but cancelling your Rogers Internet also cancels the email. Back up before you leave.

Current status: IMAP, POP and SMTP all work through Yahoo. Sign in with the native Rogers Yahoo login in a modern app. An existing app password may still work, but new ones cannot be generated.

Rogers email is a Yahoo account with a modern sign in. Two things must be right before any app connects.

1. Use a client with Rogers Yahoo sign in

Since app password generation is off, you need a current email app that offers the native Rogers Yahoo or Yahoo sign in. Old apps that only accept a typed password will not connect.

About Rogers Mail#

Rogers Communications is Canada's largest cable and wireless provider. Its email, branded Rogers Yahoo Mail, is run on Yahoo's infrastructure for a large base of long time subscribers.

Rogers partnered with Yahoo for email years ago, so every @rogers.com inbox has always lived on Yahoo behind the scenes. The setup detail that changed: Rogers turned off app password generation. Connecting a mail app now means using a modern client with the native Rogers Yahoo sign in, pointed at the Yahoo servers.

Watch out for fake support pages. Many "Rogers email help" results are third party pages that flash a phone number and pressure you into a paid setup call. Rogers, Yahoo and Univik never ask you to call a number to enter server settings. Be wary of search results showing a Rogers email support phone number, since many are not official. Rogers Email Runs on Yahoo#

Your address ends in @rogers.com, but the mailbox behind it is a Yahoo mailbox. It always has been. Two things follow from that. The second one changed recently.

1. The servers are Yahoo servers

Point your app at the Yahoo hosts. The old smtp.broadband.rogers.com send server still resolves for setups that already use it, but the Yahoo names are where the mailbox truly lives.

Fresh setups should use the Yahoo hosts. If your old Rogers send server still works, you can leave it.

2. Sign in changed: no more app passwords

Rogers turned off app password generation. A modern email app now signs in with the native Rogers Yahoo login, a secure OAuth style window. Old apps that only accept a typed password will fail. The sign in section covers what to do.

If your app never shows a Rogers Yahoo sign in window, it is too old. Either update it or fall back to webmail and the Yahoo Mail app.

Test on the web first: if mail loads in the Rogers Member Centre but not in your app, the account is healthy and the fault is the sign in method or a server value. That single check saves most Rogers troubleshooting time.

Rogers IMAP Settings#

IMAP is the incoming protocol most people should use. It keeps your mail on the Yahoo server so every device shows the same inbox:

Careful with POP3 delete settings. Some clients remove mail from the server after download. Check "leave a copy on the server" so mail still shows in the Rogers Member Centre. The old pop.broadband.rogers.com name also still works.

Rogers SMTP Settings#

SSL only: Yahoo accepts encrypted connections only. The old unencrypted ports 143 (IMAP) and 110 (POP3) never connect. If your app filled one of them in automatically, correct the port and turn SSL on.

SMTP handles outgoing mail. If you can read but not send, the sign in or the port is nearly always the cause:

How Rogers Sign In Works Now#

Rogers used to let you generate an app password for mail apps. That option is gone. The current method is the native Rogers Yahoo sign in, an OAuth window that opens inside a modern email app. Here is how it goes:

You type your rogers.com address and password into the Rogers Yahoo window, not into the app's own password box.

Update the email app first. Old versions of Outlook and other clients never show the Rogers Yahoo window. Use New Outlook, current Apple Mail or a recent Thunderbird.
Add the account as Yahoo, not as a generic IMAP account, so the Rogers Yahoo sign in window appears.
Sign in when the window opens with your full @rogers.com address and password. Approve any verification step.
Still stuck? Use webmail or the Yahoo Mail app from the Rogers Member Centre while you sort the desktop app.

Have an old app password that still works? You can keep using it. Rogers has only stopped generating new ones. But if it ever fails, the fix is a modern app with the Rogers Yahoo sign in, not a new app password.

Known Apple Mail issue: after updating to iOS 26.3 or a recent macOS, some people cannot add Rogers Yahoo to Apple Mail on iPhone, iPad or Mac. Rogers has confirmed this and is working on a fix. Until then, read your mail in the Yahoo Mail app or at the Rogers Member Centre.

Set Up Rogers in Email Clients#

Incoming is imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing is smtp.mail.yahoo.com in every app. Every app needs the Rogers Yahoo sign in. Only the menus differ. Jump to your app:

Outlook Apple Mail iPhone and iPad Android Thunderbird

Outlook (Windows and Mac)

Open Outlook → File → Add Account [new Outlook: Settings → Accounts → Add account].
Use New Outlook and choose Yahoo when adding the account, so the Rogers Yahoo sign in window can appear.
Enter your rogers.com address in the Rogers Yahoo window, with servers imap.mail.yahoo.com 993 SSL and smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465 SSL if asked.
Sign in in the Rogers Yahoo window, not the app's own password box. Old Outlook 2013 will not work, so use New Outlook.
Finish and send yourself a test. If no Rogers Yahoo window appeared, the app is too old to connect.

Apple Mail (macOS)

Open Mail → Settings → Accounts → Add Account.
Select Yahoo from the account type list, which triggers the Rogers Yahoo sign in.
Enter your rogers.com address and password in the Yahoo window, then continue.
If asked for servers, use imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
Enable Mail in the checkbox list and finish.

iPhone and iPad

Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account.
Tap Yahoo in Add Account, so the Rogers Yahoo sign in opens. Make sure iOS is version 15 or higher.
Enter your rogers.com address and password in the Yahoo window, then tap Next.
iOS uses IMAP automatically. If it asks, incoming is imap.mail.yahoo.com, outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
Tap Save and wait for iOS to verify the account.

Android

Open your mail app (Gmail app, Samsung Email or another), then Add account.
Choose Yahoo if offered, so the Rogers Yahoo sign in appears. Otherwise pick Personal (IMAP).
Enter your rogers.com address and password. Approve any verification step Yahoo shows.
If asked for servers: imap.mail.yahoo.com 993 SSL incoming, smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465 SSL outgoing.
Finish setup and pull down to sync your inbox.

Thunderbird

Open Thunderbird → Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
Use a current Thunderbird and enter your rogers.com address, then select Continue.
Thunderbird opens the Rogers Yahoo sign in for the password. Confirm IMAP and imap.mail.yahoo.com.
If no sign in window appears, update Thunderbird, since older versions cannot do the Rogers Yahoo login.
Select Done. Folders sync on first open.

Rogers Webmail Settings#

Server settings connect your apps. These control how the mailbox behaves. Since Rogers mail is Yahoo, you find them in the Rogers Member Centre Mail view under Settings.

Signature

Settings, then Writing email. A signature here shows in webmail only. Outlook and Thunderbird keep their own separate signature.

Vacation Auto Reply

Settings, then Vacation response. Set start and end dates so it turns off by itself. It runs on Yahoo, so it replies even when your computer is off.

Filters and Folders

Settings, then Filters. Rules here run on the server, so they sort mail before your phone or Outlook sees it. Client side rules only run while that app is open.

Spam and Blocked Senders

Settings, then Security and privacy. Add addresses to the blocked list. Blocked mail is kept out of your inbox.

Our verdict: pick IMAP. It keeps your phone, computer and the Member Centre in sync. For a permanent offline archive of your mailbox, a backup tool does that job better than POP3.

Rogers Sending and Storage Limits#

Because Rogers mail is Yahoo, the limits are Yahoo limits. Hit one and sending pauses for a while. Know the rough numbers before you bulk forward or migrate a mailbox:

Troubleshooting Rogers Connections#

Find the exact error your email app shows, then apply the fix:

Reader Reported Fixes

Two fixes that come up again and again in Rogers setups, beyond the error table above.

Re add the account as Yahoo, not as generic IMAP. Adding it as a plain IMAP account skips the Rogers Yahoo sign in, so it never authenticates. Delete the account, add it again choosing Yahoo, then complete the sign in window. That fixes most stubborn Rogers login failures.

Old app passwords may still work, new ones cannot be made. If a saved app password suddenly fails, do not look for a way to generate another, since that option is gone. Move that account to a modern app with the Rogers Yahoo sign in instead.

Leaving Rogers or Changing ISP?#

Read this before you cancel. Rogers email lives only while your Rogers Internet is active. Cancel the Internet service and the mailbox is cancelled with it, so back it up first.

Unlike some providers, Rogers does not offer a standalone paid mailbox, so cancelling Internet ends the email.

Staying with Rogers but new to the setup? Sign in to the Rogers Member Centre to confirm access, then add the account in a modern app using the Rogers Yahoo sign in. That is the whole setup.
