Handle these two basics before anything else. Skip them and your email app will reject the connection even when every server value is correct.
1. Create the mailbox
In the Infomaniak Manager open your mail address and generate a device password for this device. Copy it at once, since it shows only once.

About Infomaniak Mail#
Infomaniak is a Swiss host founded in 1994 and based in Geneva. It runs its own mail servers and stores data in Switzerland. Mail sits inside kSuite.
Infomaniak has hosted since 1994 and is known for privacy and its Swiss data centres. The point to remember for email is that one host, mail.infomaniak.com, answers for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP. You sign in with the whole address and a generated device password rather than your Manager login.

IMAP is ready the moment a mail address exists, so nothing needs switching on. Before you connect an app, generate its password in the Manager.
- Sign in to the Infomaniak Manager at manager.infomaniak.com.
- Open your Mail Service and the address.
- Generate a device password for this device and copy it once.
- Use mail.infomaniak.com over SSL with that password in your app.

Username and Password#
The username is the whole email address. The password is not your Infomaniak login. You generate a device password for each device in the Manager, sometimes called an app password. It shows only once, so copy it right away.
Username is the full address
Type you@yourdomain.com in full, with the part after the at sign. Infomaniak turns down a bare mailbox name.
Put the same Infomaniak address on both incoming and outgoing.
Password is the mailbox one
This is a generated device password from the Manager, not your Infomaniak login. Create a fresh one whenever an app asks, since the old one cannot be shown again.
Two factor secures the Infomaniak Manager. Mail apps use the device password instead, so 2FA does not block them.
Set Up Infomaniak in Email Clients#
The servers and ports are always the same. Only the menus differ. Jump to your app:
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- In Outlook select Add Account, then turn on manual setup under Advanced options.
- Choose IMAP and set incoming to
mail.infomaniak.comon 993 with SSL. - Set outgoing to the same server on 587 with STARTTLS.
- Enter the full address and mailbox password when Outlook prompts you.
- Send a test message to yourself to prove both paths.
Apple Mail (macOS)
- In Mail select Add Account, then pick Other Mail Account.
- Give your name, Infomaniak address and device password, then continue.
- Enter mail.infomaniak.com with SSL on incoming and outgoing.
- Keep the SSL ports so nothing sends in plain text.
- Save and wait for the mailbox to load.
iPhone and iPad
- In Settings open Mail, then tap Mail Accounts and Add Account.
- Tap Other then Add Mail Account and fill your details.
- Keep IMAP chosen and put mail.infomaniak.com in both server boxes.
- Leave the secure ports iOS fills, since Infomaniak expects SSL.
- Tap Save and let iOS run its check.
Android
- Open your mail app and tap Add account, then Other or IMAP.
- Put in your address and password. Switch to manual setup if it stalls.
- For incoming use mail.infomaniak.com on 993 over SSL.
- For outgoing use mail.infomaniak.com on 587 with STARTTLS.
- Save and swipe down to fetch your mail.
Thunderbird
- In Thunderbird pick Account Actions, then Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, Infomaniak address and device password, then Continue.
- Wait for detection, then make sure IMAP with SSL is picked.
- If detection fails, type mail.infomaniak.com for incoming and outgoing.
- Hit Done and the folders fill in on the first sync.
Infomaniak Webmail Settings#
Server settings connect your apps. These controls set how an Infomaniak mailbox behaves on its own. They live in Infomaniak webmail at ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail, called Mail Infomaniak, with an app for phones too.
Signature
Add one in Mail Infomaniak preferences. The signature rides on mail sent from Mail Infomaniak. A desktop app keeps its own.
Vacation Auto Reply
Set an out of office reply in Mail Infomaniak and give it start and end dates. The Infomaniak server sends it, so it fires even when your machine is off.
Filters and Folders
Create filters in Mail Infomaniak. A server side rule sorts a message ahead of any device fetching it. A rule set inside an app only works while that app is open.
Spam and Blocked Senders
Infomaniak filters incoming mail for spam. Tune rules and blocked senders in Mail Infomaniak. Flagged mail lands in the junk folder for a look.

A few limits are worth knowing before you bulk forward or move a mailbox. Infomaniak keeps mail on Swiss servers with a few rules:

Troubleshooting Infomaniak Connections#
Find the exact error your email app shows, then apply the fix:

Use the host and a device password. When a manual setup will not connect, enter mail.infomaniak.com for incoming and outgoing, on 993 and 587, with a generated device password. That pair clears the guesswork behind most failed setups.
Test the login in webmail first. Sign in at ksuite.infomaniak.com/mail. If the webmail opens, the address works and the issue sits in the device password or settings.
Why Infomaniak Gives You a Password Per Device#
Infomaniak does not use one password for a mailbox. It gives you a separate password for each device. Get this model and the login stops failing.

Email Settings Glossary#
IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol. Reads mail that stays on the server, so all your devices see the same inbox, folders and read status.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3. Downloads mail to 1 device and can remove it from the server. Older method, still useful for local archives.
SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Sends your outgoing mail. Every account needs it next to IMAP or POP3, which only receive.
SSL / TLS / STARTTLS
Encryption for the connection. SSL/TLS encrypts from the start (ports 993, 995, 465). STARTTLS upgrades a plain connection (port 587).
Device Password
The per-device password Infomaniak uses for IMAP and SMTP. You generate one for each mail app and it shows only once.
kSuite
Infomaniak's suite of tools. Mail Infomaniak, Drive and more sit inside it at ksuite.infomaniak.com.
