Handle these two basics before anything else. Skip them and your email app will reject the connection even when every server value is correct.
1. Turn on client access
In webmail, open the POP3 and SMTP server settings and tick allow POP3 and SMTP access. Sending stays blocked until you do.

A client signs in with your Meta.ua account password, the same one that opens webmail. There is no separate app password.

About Meta.ua Mail#
Meta.ua is a Ukrainian web portal that has run free mail since 1998, alongside search, news and finance. An address looks like you@meta.ua and reads in Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird over IMAP or POP once you turn client access on.
Reading is IMAP on imap.meta.ua or POP on pop.meta.ua. Sending is SMTP on smtp.meta.ua, each on its SSL port. Meta.ua keeps client access off until you switch it on in webmail, so the outgoing server is blocked until you do. The username is your full address and the password is your Meta.ua account password.

Turn On Access So Deleted Mail Waits 20 Days#
Meta.ua keeps client access locked until you switch it on. Open webmail, go to the POP3 and SMTP server settings and tick the box that allows POP3 and SMTP access. The same box tells you that mail a client deletes can be recovered from Trash for 20 days. Until you tick it, the outgoing server turns your mail away.

Set Up Meta.ua in Email Clients#
The servers and ports are always the same. Only the menus differ. Jump to your app:
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- In Outlook select Add Account, then turn on manual setup under Advanced options.
- Choose IMAP and set incoming to
smtp.meta.uaon 993 with SSL. - Set outgoing to the same server on 465 with SSL.
- Enter the full address and mailbox password when Outlook prompts you.
- Send a test message to yourself to prove both paths.
Apple Mail (macOS)
- In Mail select Add Account, then pick Other Mail Account.
- Give your name, Meta.ua address and password, then continue.
- Enter smtp.meta.ua with SSL on incoming and outgoing.
- Keep the SSL ports so nothing sends in plain text.
- Save and wait for the mailbox to load.
iPhone and iPad
- In Settings open Mail, then tap Mail Accounts and Add Account.
- Tap Other then Add Mail Account and fill your details.
- Keep IMAP chosen and put smtp.meta.ua in both server boxes.
- Leave the secure ports iOS fills, since Meta.ua expects SSL.
- Tap Save and let iOS run its check.
Android
- Open your mail app and tap Add account, then Other or IMAP.
- Put in your address and password. Switch to manual setup if it stalls.
- For incoming use smtp.meta.ua on 993 over SSL.
- For outgoing use smtp.meta.ua on 465 over SSL.
- Save and swipe down to fetch your mail.
Thunderbird
- In Thunderbird pick Account Actions, then Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, Meta.ua address and password, then Continue.
- Wait for detection, then make sure IMAP with SSL is picked.
- If detection fails, type smtp.meta.ua in yourself.
- Hit Done and the folders fill in on the first sync.

Add one in the webmail preferences. It rides on mail sent from webmail. A desktop app keeps a signature of its own.

Create filters in Meta.ua webmail. A server side rule sorts a message ahead of any device fetching it. A rule set inside an app only works while that app is running.

Meta.ua Sending and Storage Limits#
A few limits are worth knowing before you bulk forward or move a mailbox. On shared plans Meta.ua caps outbound mail to protect the server reputation:

Troubleshooting Meta.ua Connections#
Find the exact error your email app shows, then apply the fix:

Reader Reported Fixes
Copy from Set Up Mail Client. When a manual setup will not connect, the Meta.ua settings pages list imap.meta.ua, pop.meta.ua and smtp.meta.ua with the ports for that mailbox. Pasting those in clears the guesswork behind most failed setups.
Test the login in webmail first. Sign in at websmtp.meta.ua with the full address and mailbox password. If webmail works, the credentials are right and the issue sits in the app settings.
When Your Own Lists Block Incoming Mail#
If one particular sender's mail never reaches you while everything else works, the cause is often your own account, not the server. Meta.ua gives every mailbox a blacklist and a whitelist of senders. They decide what lands in the inbox before any client sees it.
A sender on your blacklist is turned away before the mailbox, so their mail never arrives and no client can pull it down. A sender on your whitelist is trusted, so their mail is kept out of the spam folder and comes straight through. The two lists are managed in Meta.ua webmail under the mail settings, alongside the antispam filter. A sender belongs on one list at a time, not both.
The fix depends on which way the mail is going wrong. If a sender you want is silent, open the blacklist and remove them, then add them to the whitelist so the spam filter leaves their mail alone. If mail you do not want keeps coming, add that sender to the blacklist. These lists sit on the server, so they work the same whether you read in webmail or in a client.

Meta.ua mail speaks plain IMAP, so a mailbox moves in or out like any Meta.ua account. Each folder stays on the server until the move finishes.
Take a copy first. Back up the mailbox before a move. A note that arrives mid switch can sit on either side. A copy keeps you safe.
