Quick answer: Seznam email runs on Seznam. Every protocol connects to imap.seznam.cz. IMAP is on 993, POP3 on 995 and SMTP on 465, each secured with SSL. Your username is the full address and the mailbox password you set in Seznam settings lets you in. Your exact values also sit under Access Switches in Seznam settings. Old setup stopped connecting? switch to the SSL ports.
What Changed Recently#
A host changes how you sign in more often than it changes the server names. Here is the current status for Seznam and what it means for your setup.
Worth knowing
Use the full address. Seznam turns down a bare mailbox name. Put you@seznam.cz or you@email.cz in both the incoming and the outgoing server.
Worth knowing
Each protocol has its own switch. Turn on IMAP and SMTP separately under Access from Applications. Enabling one does not enable the other.
Worth knowing
SSL ports only. Seznam is ending support for the unencrypted ports. Use 993, 995 and 465 with SSL rather than the old plaintext ones.
Before You Begin#
Handle these two basics before anything else. Skip them and your email app will reject the connection even when every server value is correct.
1. Create the mailbox
Add the address under your mail settings in Seznam settings and set its password. That password is the one your apps use.
Where: Seznam then your mail settings
2. Open the Access from Applications switches
Click the protocol switches next to the address, then the Access from Applications switches to read the server name and secure ports.
Where: Access Switches
About Seznam Email#
Seznam Email is the free mail of Seznam.cz, the Czech Republic's largest web portal. A mailbox carries a seznam.cz or email.cz address and reads in a browser at email.seznam.cz. It also works in Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird.
Incoming mail uses imap.seznam.cz on 993 with SSL. Outgoing uses smtp.seznam.cz on 465 with SSL. The username is your full address. The step people miss comes first. Seznam keeps each protocol behind its own switch under Access from Applications. They are off until you turn them on. Enable IMAP for reading and SMTP for sending, since one does not turn the other on.
| Service Name | Seznam Email, free webmail |
| Run By | Seznam.cz, Czech Republic |
| Address Domains | seznam.cz and email.cz |
| Incoming Server | imap.seznam.cz 993 (POP pop3.seznam.cz 995) |
| Outgoing Server | smtp.seznam.cz, port 465 SSL |
| Before you start | Turn on IMAP and SMTP under Access from Applications |
| Username | Full email address |
| Webmail | email.seznam.cz |
Seznam Webmail Login#
You can always read your mail in a browser. The official sign in pages are:
Turn On Access From Applications#
Seznam keeps IMAP, POP3 and SMTP behind separate switches. They start off. Until you turn a protocol on, a client cannot use it. Each switch is its own, so it is easy to enable IMAP for reading and forget SMTP for sending.
- Sign in at email.seznam.cz in a browser.
- Open Settings, then Access from Applications.
- Turn on the IMAP switch so a client can read your mail.
- Turn on the SMTP switch as well, so the same client can send.
Seznam IMAP Settings#
IMAP is the incoming choice Seznam points most people to. Mail stays put on the server, so a laptop and a phone read one shared inbox. Pull the exact server name from the Access from Applications switches in Seznam settings.
| IMAP Server | imap.seznam.cz | |
| Port | 993 | |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full email address, including @seznam.cz | |
| Password | Your mailbox password | |
| Authentication | Required |
Seznam POP3 Settings#
POP3 downloads mail to 1 device. Pick it only if you want a local copy on a single computer. Not sure? See the comparison below.
| POP3 Server | pop3.seznam.cz | |
| Port | 995 | |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full email address | |
| Password | Your mailbox password |
Seznam SMTP Settings#
SMTP handles outgoing mail. If you can read mail but not send it, the problem is here.
| SMTP Server | smtp.seznam.cz | |
| Port (SSL) | 465 | |
| Encryption | SSL or STARTTLS (required) | |
| Username | Your full email address | |
| Password | Same as incoming mail | |
| Authentication | Required. Switch on outgoing server authentication in the client. |
465 with SSL. Seznam uses port 465 with SSL for sending. Confirm outgoing authentication is on.
Check Seznam IMAP Settings Online#
You don't need to download anything to check Seznam IMAP settings online. This page is the lookup: every value is verified, current and copyable straight from your browser. Not sure your address uses Seznam servers? Type it below and find out instantly.
Does my email address use these settings?
Runs in your browser only. Your address is never sent anywhere or stored.
Want to verify the account itself before configuring an app? Sign in at Seznam webmail, which confirms your address and password work, then confirm an Seznam password exists. If both pass, any email app connects with the tables above.
Look Up IMAP Settings for Any Email Domain#
This page covers Seznam. For every other address, work email on a company domain included, we run a free online lookup database: imapsettings.com.
imapsettings.com
Complete email settings database, by Univik
Enter any email address and get the incoming and outgoing server settings for that domain in 1 step:
Your address is used only to find the settings for that domain. Nothing is stored or shared.
Username and Password#
Both come from the mailbox itself. The username is the whole email address and the password is the one you chose when you built the address in Seznam settings. A standard Seznam mailbox uses no Seznam password.
Username is the full address
Type you@seznam.cz in full, with the part after the at sign. Seznam turns down a bare mailbox name.
Put that same address on both incoming and outgoing.
Password is the mailbox one
This is the webmail password you set under your mail settings in Seznam settings, not your Seznam client area login. Reset it there if an app keeps refusing it.
The two factor prompt in the Seznam client area guards billing, not the mailbox connection.
Set Up Seznam in Email Clients#
The servers and ports are always the same. Only the menus differ. Jump to your app:
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- In Outlook select Add Account, then turn on manual setup under Advanced options.
- Choose IMAP and set incoming to
imap.seznam.czon 993 with SSL. - Set outgoing to the same server on 465 with SSL.
- Enter the full address and mailbox password when Outlook prompts you.
- Send a test message to yourself to prove both paths.
Apple Mail (macOS)
- In Mail select Add Account, then pick Other Mail Account.
- Give your name, Seznam address and password, then continue.
- Enter imap.seznam.cz with SSL on incoming and outgoing.
- Keep the SSL ports so nothing sends in plain text.
- Save and wait for the mailbox to load.
iPhone and iPad
- In Settings open Mail, then tap Mail Accounts and Add Account.
- Tap Other then Add Mail Account and fill your details.
- Keep IMAP chosen and put imap.seznam.cz in both server boxes.
- Leave the secure ports iOS fills, since Seznam expects SSL.
- Tap Save and let iOS run its check.
Android
- Open your mail app and tap Add account, then Other or IMAP.
- Put in your address and password. Switch to manual setup if it stalls.
- For incoming use imap.seznam.cz on 993 over SSL.
- For outgoing use smtp.seznam.cz on 465 over SSL.
- Save and swipe down to fetch your mail.
Thunderbird
- In Thunderbird pick Account Actions, then Add Mail Account.
- Type your name, Seznam address and password, then Continue.
- Wait for detection, then make sure IMAP with SSL is picked.
- If detection fails, type imap.seznam.cz in yourself.
- Hit Done and the folders fill in on the first sync.
Seznam Webmail Settings#
Server settings connect your apps. The controls here shape how the mailbox acts on its own. They live in Seznam webmail, opened at email.seznam.cz in any browser.
Signature
Add one in the webmail preferences. It rides on mail sent from webmail. A desktop app keeps a signature of its own.
Vacation Auto Reply
Set an autoresponder in Seznam settings and give it start and end dates. The Seznam server delivers it, so it fires even when your machine is off.
Filters and Folders
Create filters from the Seznam webmail filters in Seznam settings. A server side rule sorts a message ahead of any device fetching it. A rule set inside an app only works while that app is running.
Spam and Blocked Senders
Seznam runs SpamAssassin on incoming mail. Set the threshold and block unwanted senders in Seznam settings. Flagged mail lands in the junk folder for a look.
POP3 vs IMAP#
| Feature | IMAP | POP3 |
|---|---|---|
| Where mail lives | On the Seznam server | Downloaded to 1 device |
| Multiple devices | ✅ Everything stays in sync | ❌ Each device sees different mail |
| Sent and deleted mail | ✅ Synced everywhere | ⚠️ Stays only on that device |
| Offline reading | ⚠️ Cached mail only | ✅ Full local copy |
| Server storage used | Yes, counts against your quota | Can be freed after download |
| Best for | Phone + computer, everyday use | Single PC, local archives |
Seznam Email at a Glance#
Every value for a seznam.cz or email.cz address in one place. Turn on the protocol switches first:
| Incoming (IMAP) | imap.seznam.cz, port 993, SSL |
| Incoming (POP3) | pop3.seznam.cz, port 995, SSL |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | smtp.seznam.cz, port 465, SSL |
| Authentication | Required, same login as incoming |
| Before you connect | Enable IMAP and SMTP under Access from Applications |
| Username | Full email address |
| Webmail | email.seznam.cz |
Troubleshooting Seznam Connections#
Find the exact error your email app shows, then apply the fix:
| Error you see | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Username or password rejected | Short username or wrong password | Use the full email address with the mailbox password from Seznam, not the client area login. |
| Cannot send on port 25 | ISP blocks the default SMTP port | Switch outgoing to 465 with SSL. Seznam uses 465 with SSL. |
| Client cannot connect at all | IMAP switch is still off | Seznam starts with each protocol off. Sign in at email.seznam.cz, open Access from Applications, then turn on the IMAP switch. Then the client on imap.seznam.cz connects on port 993 with SSL. |
| Reads mail but will not send | SMTP switch is off | The IMAP switch is on but the SMTP one is not. Turn on the SMTP switch under Access from Applications, then set smtp.seznam.cz on 465 with SSL and authentication on. A test message goes out. |
| Cannot connect to server | Wrong port or encryption | Set 993 with SSL incoming and 465 with SSL outgoing. A firewall on your own machine can block it as well. |
| Repeated password prompt | Short username or a typo | Clear the saved login, then put in the full address with the mailbox password. |
| Messages stuck in Outbox | SMTP authentication is off | Enable "outgoing server requires authentication" with the same login as incoming mail. |
| Worked for years, now the connection fails | Client is on an old plaintext port | Seznam is ending the unencrypted ports. Open the account's server settings, set the security to SSL, then move to 993 for imap.seznam.cz, 995 for pop3.seznam.cz and 465 for smtp.seznam.cz. |
| Not sure whether the connection is encrypted | Ports or security set to none | Check that the security shows SSL or TLS and the ports read 993, 995 and 465. If they read 143, 110 or 25 with no encryption, the client is on the plaintext ports Seznam is dropping. |
Reader Reported Fixes
Copy from the Access from Applications switches. When a manual setup will not connect, the the Access from Applications switches page in Seznam settings prints the exact server name and ports for that mailbox. Pasting those in clears the guesswork behind most failed setups.
Test the login in webmail first. Sign in at webimap.seznam.cz with the full address and mailbox password. If webmail works, the credentials are right and the issue sits in the app settings.
Seznam Is Dropping the Unencrypted Ports#
If a Seznam setup that worked for years suddenly cannot connect, the ports are the likely cause. Seznam is ending support for the old unencrypted ports, so a client still set to one of them gets turned away.
The plaintext ports carried mail without encryption, IMAP on 143, POP3 on 110 and SMTP on 25. Seznam is phasing these out for security. The fix is to switch each server to its SSL port and turn encryption on, so imap.seznam.cz moves to 993, pop3.seznam.cz to 995 and smtp.seznam.cz to 465. In the client, set the connection security to SSL or TLS before the port, so the port stays encrypted.
| Server | Old plaintext port | SSL port to use now |
|---|---|---|
| imap.seznam.cz | 143 | 993 with SSL |
| pop3.seznam.cz | 110 | 995 with SSL |
| smtp.seznam.cz | 25 | 465 with SSL |
Moving Mail In or Out?#
Seznam mail speaks plain IMAP, so a mailbox moves in or out like any Seznam account. Each folder stays on the server until the move finishes.
Take a copy first. Back up the mailbox before a move. A note that arrives mid switch can sit on either side. A copy keeps you safe.
Carrying mail across? The Univik Email Migration Tool moves each folder over an IMAP link. Give it the Seznam server name and mailbox password on this side and the other account opposite.
Rather hand it off? Our Email Migration Services team runs the whole move and verifies each folder arrived.
Use These Settings in Univik Email Backup#
The same IMAP settings above let you download your complete Seznam mailbox to your computer. Univik Email Backup saves everything as PST, MBOX, EML or PDF files you keep forever, even if the account closes.
- Download Univik Email Backup and install it on Windows.
- Select Seznam from the source list. If it isn't listed by name, choose IMAP.
- Give the complete email address with your mailbox password. The login name is always the whole email address.
- When the backup tool wants server details, hand it imap.seznam.cz on port 993 with SSL for Seznam. Take those values straight from the IMAP table above, with port
993over SSL. - Pick a saving format and folder, then start the backup. Large mailboxes download in the background.
Email Settings Glossary#
IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol. Reads mail that stays on the Seznam server, so every device shows the same inbox. Use imap.seznam.cz on port 993 with SSL.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3. Downloads mail to one device. Use pop3.seznam.cz on port 995 with SSL if you prefer POP. Note the 3 in the name.
SMTP
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Sends your outgoing mail through smtp.seznam.cz on port 465 with SSL. It needs a sign-in with your address and password.
SSL and TLS
The encryption Seznam uses on 993, 995 and 465. Seznam is ending the older unencrypted ports, so keep SSL on.
Access from Applications
The Seznam settings area with a switch for each protocol. Turn on IMAP and SMTP there before a client can read or send. It is off to start.
imap.seznam.cz
The incoming server for IMAP, shared by seznam.cz and email.cz. Set it on port 993 with SSL to read mail that stays on the server.
smtp.seznam.cz
The outgoing server. Set it on port 465 with SSL and a sign-in to send. Turn on the SMTP switch under Access from Applications first.
Full Email Address
Your username for the server is the whole address, like you@seznam.cz or you@email.cz. The same value works for incoming and outgoing.
SMTP Authentication
The server-requires-authentication setting on smtp.seznam.cz. Turn it on with the same login as the incoming server, so Seznam lets your mail out.
Seznam Email Webmail
The browser view of your mail at email.seznam.cz. Handy for a quick check. It is where the Access from Applications switches live.
Email.cz
A Seznam mail domain alongside seznam.cz. A @email.cz address uses the very same imap.seznam.cz and smtp.seznam.cz servers.
Seznam.cz
The Czech Republic's largest web portal. Its free mail carries seznam.cz and email.cz addresses on imap.seznam.cz and smtp.seznam.cz.
Plaintext Ports
The old unencrypted ports, IMAP 143, POP3 110 and SMTP 25. They carry mail with no encryption. Seznam is ending support for them.
Encryption Method
The SSL or TLS setting on the connection. Set it before the port, so imap.seznam.cz on 993 and smtp.seznam.cz on 465 stay encrypted.
Connection Failed
The error a client shows when it is still on a plaintext port Seznam has dropped. Switch to the SSL ports 993, 995 and 465 to clear it.
How We Verify These Settings#
Univik builds email backup, migration and converter software since 2013. Our tools sign in to Seznam over IMAP and SMTP every day for thousands of users, so a changed server, port or login rule shows up in our connection logs before most guides notice it.
Every value on this page is confirmed with three checks: a live IMAP and SMTP connection from Univik Email Backup, a comparison against the Seznam guides and a sign in with a real mailbox using the full address. We re verify after any provider announcement and at least once a quarter.
Found something that no longer matches what Seznam shows you? Tell us and we will retest and update the page, with the change logged in what changed recently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Incoming is imap.seznam.cz on port 993 with SSL. For POP the host is pop3.seznam.cz on port 995. Outgoing is smtp.seznam.cz on port 465 with SSL. The username is your full address. Turn on IMAP and SMTP under Access from Applications first.
The IMAP switch is most likely still off. Seznam starts every protocol off, so a client cannot read until you enable it. Sign in at email.seznam.cz, open Access from Applications, then turn IMAP on. Then imap.seznam.cz connects on 993.
The SMTP switch is off. IMAP and SMTP have separate switches, so turning IMAP on for reading leaves SMTP off. Turn on SMTP under Access from Applications, then set smtp.seznam.cz on 465 with SSL and authentication on.
In the webmail. Sign in at email.seznam.cz, open Settings, then Access from Applications. Each protocol, IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, has its own switch there. Turn on the ones your client needs.
IMAP is the better default. It keeps mail on the Seznam server so a phone and a laptop show the same inbox. POP downloads to one device, which suits a single machine you back up yourself.
Your username is the full address, whether it ends in seznam.cz or email.cz. The same value goes in the incoming and the outgoing server. The part before the at sign on its own is turned down.
Yes. Both run on imap.seznam.cz for reading and smtp.seznam.cz for sending. Only the ending of your address differs, so point either one at the same Seznam servers.
The SSL ports. IMAP is 993, POP is 995 and SMTP is 465, all with SSL. Seznam is ending support for the older unencrypted ports, so the plaintext ones like 143 and 25 are on the way out.
Open email.seznam.cz and sign in with your full address and password. Webmail is the quickest way to check mail without a client. It is also where the Access from Applications switches live.
Seznam is ending support for connections over the unencrypted ports, so a client still set to a plaintext port gets turned away. The fix is to switch to the SSL ports. Set imap.seznam.cz to 993, pop3.seznam.cz to 995 and smtp.seznam.cz to 465, with the security set to SSL or TLS. Nothing else about the mailbox changes. The same address and password keep working.
