Soverin Quick Settings

IMAP Server imap.soverin.net
IMAP Port 993 (SSL/TLS)
SMTP Server smtp.soverin.net
SMTP Port 465 (SSL) / 587 (STARTTLS)
POP3 Server imap.soverin.net

Quick answer: the Soverin IMAP server is imap.soverin.net on port 993 with SSL/TLS. The SMTP server is smtp.soverin.net on port 465 SSL or 587 STARTTLS. Sign in with your full Soverin address as the username, often on your own domain. Use your normal password. There is no app password. Soverin uses IMAP rather than POP3.

Every setting on this page is verified with live IMAP and SMTP connections from Univik email software. We have built email backup and converter tools since 2013, so we set these servers up every day. See what changed →

What Changed Recently#

Soverin keeps its setup steady and simple. The points worth knowing are the username format and the plain normal password login.

Latest update

Your full address is your username. Soverin addresses often sit on your own domain, such as name@yourdomain.eu. Enter that exact address as the username, not a short name and not an @soverin.net guess.

Earlier change

Normal password, no app password. You sign in with the same password you use at my.soverin.net. Soverin has no app password or token system, which keeps client setup quick.

Earlier change

Deleting in the app deletes everywhere. Soverin uses IMAP, so removing a message in your client also removes it from the server and every other device. Keep that in mind before a cleanup.

Current status: IMAP and SMTP work today on imap.soverin.net and smtp.soverin.net, using your full address and normal password over SSL.

Before You Begin#

Soverin has fewer traps than most privacy providers. Two things still stand between you and a working client.

1. Use your full address as the username

Soverin usernames are the full email address, which is usually on your own domain, such as name@yourdomain.eu. Enter that exact address in the username field, not a short name and not an @soverin.net guess.

Where: Username or account field in your client

2. Use your normal password over SSL

Soverin has no app password system. You enter the same password you use at my.soverin.net. Turn SSL on, since the secure ports 993 and 465 are the ones to use.

About Soverin Mail#

Soverin is a Dutch privacy focused email provider, built around your own domain and funded by paid subscriptions rather than ads.

The standout for client setup is the address itself. A Soverin mailbox usually sits on your own domain, so your username is that full address rather than an @soverin.net one. Setup is otherwise plain. Both servers are subdomains of soverin.net. You sign in with your normal password. Webmail lives at my.soverin.net. Soverin has no app of its own.

Protocols SupportedIMAP and SMTP, no POP3
App Password NeededNo, normal password

Your username is your full address: Soverin mailboxes usually sit on your own domain, so the username is your complete address like name@yourdomain.eu. The servers stay imap.soverin.net and smtp.soverin.net whatever your domain is.

Soverin Webmail Login#

You can always read your mail in the browser. The Soverin webmail is at:

Watch out for fake support pages. Some pages ranking for these settings open with a phone number and an offer of paid setup help. Neither Soverin nor Univik needs you to phone anyone to type in a server name. Every value here is free.

Your Address Is Your Username#

Soverin login is simple once you know one thing. Your username is your full email address, which usually sits on your own domain. Your password is the same one you use at my.soverin.net. There is no app password or token.

SettingWhat to enter
UsernameYour full address, often on your own domain, such as name@yourdomain.eu
PasswordYour normal Soverin password, the same as my.soverin.net
Incoming serverimap.soverin.net
Outgoing serversmtp.soverin.net
Auth typeNormal password, over SSL
Deleting syncs everywhere: Soverin uses IMAP, so a message you delete in your mail app is removed from the server and every other device, including the webmail. It will not sit safely in one place. Move things to a local folder or a backup first if you want to keep them.
Both port styles work: IMAP accepts 993 with SSL or 143 with STARTTLS. SMTP accepts 465 with SSL or 587 with STARTTLS. Lead with the SSL ports, 993 and 465, then fall back to the STARTTLS pair if a client prefers them.
Soverin username is your full address Not this a short name an @soverin.net guess Use this your full address name@yourdomain.eu
Soverin usernames are the complete email address, usually on your own domain. Enter it exactly rather than guessing an @soverin.net form.
Soverin uses your normal password in clients my.soverin.net your webmail password Email client exactly the same = No app password, no token, no 2FA key to generate.
Soverin skips the app password step. The password you use at my.soverin.net is the same one your client uses.
Deleting mail in a Soverin client removes it everywhere Delete in one app removes it there gone from the server gone from other devices gone from the webmail
Soverin uses IMAP, so a delete in one client removes the message everywhere. Back up anything you want to keep before a cleanup.

Soverin IMAP Settings#

IMAP is the incoming protocol most people should use. It keeps your mail on the server so every device shows the same inbox.

EncryptionSSL/TLS on 993, plus STARTTLS on 143

Each protocol has its own subdomain. Match them to the right role and skip any guide that lists a bare soverin.net server.

Why Soverin Focuses on IMAP#

Soverin does not document POP3. Its knowledge base covers IMAP and SMTP only. IMAP fits the service better, since your mail stays on the server and syncs across your phone, laptop and the webmail.

If a guide lists a POP3 server for Soverin, treat it as unverified. For a local offline copy, pair IMAP with a backup tool instead of hunting for a POP host.

Soverin is IMAP only, no POP3 IMAP and SMTP supported and documented mail syncs everywhere POP3 not documented no POP host to find
Soverin focuses on IMAP. There is no POP3 server, so ignore any guide that lists one.

Soverin SMTP Settings#

Use the secure ports: lead with SSL, port 993 for IMAP and 465 for SMTP. If a client prefers STARTTLS, use 143 for IMAP and 587 for SMTP. Either way keep encryption on, since a plain unencrypted connection is not the goal.

SMTP runs on smtp.soverin.net. Use 465 with SSL or 587 with STARTTLS. If mail arrives but will not send, the outgoing side is the place to check.

Does my email address use these settings?

Runs in your browser only. Your address is never sent anywhere or stored.

Want to verify the account itself before configuring an app? Sign in at Soverin webmail, which confirms your full address and normal password work on imap.soverin.net. After it passes, any mail app connects using the tables above.

Look Up IMAP Settings for Any Email Domain#

This page covers Soverin. For every other address, work email on a company domain included, we run a free online lookup database: imapsettings.com.

Enter any email address and get the incoming and outgoing server settings for that domain in 1 step:

Incoming server: hostname, port, SSL/TLS and username format
Outgoing server: SMTP hostname, port and encryption

Your address is used only to find the settings for that domain. Nothing is stored or shared.

Set Up Soverin in Email Clients#

Soverin Webmail Settings#

Those values connect your apps. What follows shapes the mailbox itself. It lives in the Soverin webmail at my.soverin.net rather than in any client.

Signature

Set in the Soverin webmail settings. A signature saved there shows on browser sent mail only. Every desktop client keeps its own.

Vacation Auto Reply

Set an away message in the webmail. Soverin sends it from the server, so replies keep going out with every device switched off.

Filters and Folders

Filters made in the webmail run on the server, sorting each message before any client downloads it. An Outlook rule runs only when Outlook itself is open.

Spam and Blocked Senders

Soverin filters spam server side. If a message vanishes, look in the webmail spam folder first, then tune your filters.

POP3 vs IMAP#

FeatureIMAPPOP3
Where mail livesOn the Soverin serverDownloaded to 1 device
Multiple devices✅ Everything stays in sync❌ Each device sees different mail
Sent and deleted mail✅ Synced everywhere⚠️ Stays only on that device
Offline reading⚠️ Cached mail only✅ Full local copy

Our verdict: Soverin is IMAP only, so there is no POP3 choice to make. Since a delete in the app syncs everywhere, use a backup tool for a lasting offline archive.

Soverin Settings Worth Knowing#

Soverin has a few traits worth remembering before you set up a client or move a mailbox:

UsernameFull address, often on your own domain
Serversimap.soverin.net and smtp.soverin.net
PortsIMAP 993 or 143, SMTP 465 or 587
PasswordYour normal password, no app password
ProtocolsIMAP and SMTP, no POP3
Deleting mailRemoves it from the server and every device

Troubleshooting Soverin Connections#

On Soverin the failures usually come down to the username or the host. Find your symptom, then the fix.

Error you seeWhat it meansFix
Authentication failed A short name or the wrong address was used as the username Use your full Soverin address, often on your own domain, as the username.
Server not found for soverin.net The bare domain was entered instead of the subdomain Use imap.soverin.net for incoming and smtp.soverin.net for outgoing.
Cannot connect on port 143 or 587 without encryption Encryption was left off Turn SSL on for 993 and 465. STARTTLS works on 143 and 587.
Cannot connect to server Wrong port or encryption Check IMAP on 993 and SMTP on 465, both on the soverin.net subdomains. Security software, corporate firewalls and VPN clients often block these ports.
Password keeps being asked A subdomain host was mistyped Set incoming to imap.soverin.net and outgoing to smtp.soverin.net.
Messages stuck in Outbox SMTP authentication is off Enable "outgoing server requires authentication" with the same login as incoming mail.

Reader Reported Fixes

Use your full address as the username. The most common Soverin setup mistake is entering a short name or an @soverin.net guess. The username is your complete address, usually on your own domain. Enter it exactly and the login works.

Back up before you clean up. Because Soverin uses IMAP, deleting mail in a client removes it everywhere. Move anything you want to keep into a local folder or a backup first, then tidy the inbox.

Four checks for a failing Soverin connection 1Full addressas theusername 2Subdomainhost, notbare domain 3SSL on,993 and 465 4Normalpassword Most Soverin failures stop at step 1, the username
Work through these in order. On Soverin the username at step one is behind most connection failures.

Moving to Soverin?#

Most people reach Soverin from a mainstream provider like Gmail or Outlook.com. That older mail does not move across on its own. An IMAP connection mirrors only what is on the server now, so archives from before the move stay put until you carry them across.

Set up the Soverin side. Use the values here. Server imap.soverin.net on port 993 SSL, your full address as the username, then your normal Soverin password.

Copy the old mail over. The Univik Email Migration Tool copies every folder into Soverin. Enter the Soverin details for the destination and the old provider details for the source, then let it run.

Mind the delete behaviour. Once your mail is in Soverin over IMAP, remember that deleting in a client removes it everywhere. Tidy carefully after the move.

Rather not do it yourself? Our Email Migration Services team handles the full move and verifies every folder arrived.

Use These Settings in Univik Email Backup#

The same IMAP settings above let you download your complete Soverin mailbox to your computer. Univik Email Backup saves everything as PST, MBOX, EML or PDF files you keep forever, even if the account closes.

  1. Download Univik Email Backup and install it on Windows.
  2. Select Soverin from the source list. If it isn't listed by name, choose IMAP.
  3. Sign in with your full address and your normal Soverin password.
  4. If the tool asks for server details, use imap.soverin.net with port 993 and SSL from the IMAP table above.
  5. Pick a saving format and folder, then start the backup. Large mailboxes download in the background.
Why back up before switching providers: POP3 only grabs the inbox and vacation replies to a closed account bounce. A full IMAP backup keeps every folder, attachment and date stamp in files any email app can open later. Moving to a new account instead of archiving? Use the email migration tool to copy mail directly between accounts.

Email Settings Glossary#

IMAP

Internet Message Access Protocol. Reads mail that stays on the server, so all your devices see the same inbox, folders and read status.

POP3

Post Office Protocol version 3. Downloads mail to 1 device and can remove it from the server. Older method, still useful for local archives.

SMTP

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Sends your outgoing mail. Every account needs it next to IMAP or POP3, which only receive.

SSL / TLS / STARTTLS

Encryption for the connection. SSL/TLS encrypts from the start (ports 993, 995, 465). STARTTLS upgrades a plain connection (port 587).

Username

On Soverin this is your full email address, usually on your own domain like name@yourdomain.eu. Enter the complete address, not a short name.

OAuth

Sign in through the provider's own window instead of typing a password into the app. The modern method most providers are moving to.

How We Verify These Settings#

Univik builds email backup, migration and converter software since 2013. Our tools sign in to Soverin over IMAP and SMTP every day for thousands of users, so a changed server, port or login rule shows up in our connection logs before most guides notice it.

Every value on this page is confirmed two ways: a live IMAP and SMTP connection from Univik Email Backup, then a line by line comparison against the Soverin knowledge base. We re verify after any provider announcement and at least once a quarter.

Found something that no longer matches what Soverin shows you? Tell us and we will retest and update the page, with the change logged in what changed recently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use imap.soverin.net on port 993 with SSL/TLS. Sign in with your full Soverin address, often on your own domain. Use your normal password. There is no app password. The full table is in the IMAP settings section.

The usual cause is the username, not the password. Soverin wants your full address, often on your own domain, not a short name or an @soverin.net guess. Enter the full address as the username and use your normal password over SSL.

Soverin supports IMAP only, so there is no POP3 to choose. IMAP keeps phone, computer and webmail in sync. For a local offline copy, pair it with a backup tool. More here.

Yes. The subdomain hosts, ports and password stay the same across devices. Only the menus differ, which is what the client setup guides cover. Your username is your full address everywhere.

It is removed everywhere. Soverin uses IMAP, so deleting a message in one client also removes it from the server and every other device, including my.soverin.net. Move anything you want to keep into a local folder or a backup first.

Yes. Every connection runs over SSL. Soverin uses your normal password rather than an app password. Your username is your full address. There is nothing extra to enable.

An email client with IMAP downloads mail as it syncs, but a dedicated backup tool is faster and saves standard files you can open anywhere. See how to back up your Soverin mailbox. If you already exported files in another format, an email converter changes them to PST, PDF or whatever your new app opens.

On Soverin a working setup rarely breaks on its own. Check that your password still matches my.soverin.net, then confirm the servers read imap.soverin.net and smtp.soverin.net. See what changed recently.

An email migration tool copies mail directly between the 2 accounts over IMAP. You need the Soverin IMAP settings and your normal password for this side, plus the same details for the destination account. Every folder, label and date stays intact.

If setting this up feels risky or you have many accounts to move, our managed email migration service does the entire job for you.
